Hey all, let's use this thread to discuss keyosc - what do you want to see? reactions? artist sub-forums? downloads? galleries, blogs? What else?

Let us know in here. Obviously not everything is feasible but let's hear your suggestions for the new community.

I think the artist subforums should stay as is, although the suggestions everyone made were all good I just don't think a lot of them are going to result in enough discussion. I am a fan of keeping as much music in the new releases section or under music discussion.

Other than that I find the classic WATMM formula reaction wise etc. very nice, I wouldn't change it too much.

More aphex twin new releases, please. 

I'd be good consolidating new releases and music discussion into one sub. I do like having separate artist subs so threads don't get lost in the soup of random bandcamp finds, drum n bass threads, etc. 

The thing which bugs me the most is the crossposting of new releases in various sub forums.

There’s a new releases subforum, a music discussion forum and a dedicated artist forum. 

Perhaps it’s possible to create something of a “view” on the entire forum to filter all threads about new releases.
If this is possible it could avoid crossposting and give an overview of all new releases than thats ! 

Please keep the EKT general subforum.

What kind of forum software are we going to use? If we're using discourse it's a vastly different kind of model where posts would be tagged with what they are about and can be filtered to view everything "aphex" or everything "ekt" or everything "aphex" and "new release". Wouldn't be subforums per se.

I think the current hierarchy is a little confusing, but familiar. I like the subforums but I wish it was more of a flat structure sometimes. I'd say keep it as simple as possible. I have mixed feelings whether artist subforums are necessary.

Discussion on boc never to come new release is mandatory! Everything else is optional. 

I kinda wish there would be a better standard or format for thread titles, especially in regards to new releases or something. I think the consistency would be helpful and also aesthetically pleasing

I also wouldn't mind the ability to edit thread titles for the OP

Seconding the dubiousness as to the usefulness of artist-specific subforums. I'll reiterate that I think we should let all Music Discussion threads live together in the same subforum, all EKT threads in the same subforum, and all Off-Topic threads in the same subforum, to begin with, to establish a baseline level of activity. If some particular subject gets out of hand in one of them then we spin off a subforum for it.

i think it’s the same as we’re on now, Invision is it? it was posted about in one of the other threads…

tagging va subforums: tagging is a good idea and can work if absolutely everyone keeps it up which…i mean yeah, what do you expect to happen? you’d have to introduce letting anyone tag a thread to fix the inadequacies of others, which can lead to other issues maybe? i prefer subforums + tagging. maybe with better integration of tags tho, it seems to be sorta not very useful here now? maybe i’ve not tried using it correctly here idk

well we can’t force anything that won’t let Friendly Stranger post ludicrous thread titles about how he wants to chop his arm off because a song is so good. we have to keep that open and free, for his sake. lol

reactions are only lazy for the lazy (me included). i think it encourages some users to interact more than they would otherwise too, and can look more inviting/interesting to non-members browsing the forums from the outside.

Agreed, as I said over there when it was open, I'm all for an FSOL subforum, but like the Orb one, I can't imagine it getting much traction beyond new releases and my YouTube series. This place has a lot of obsessive fans for various Warp, Rephlex and Mu-adjacent artists, but outside of those there maybe aren't enough people to justify entire subforums. I mean yeah, Orbital, Underworld, FSOL, The Orb, The GC/Reload boys, 808 State and a bunch of others are arguably as important as the current featured artists, but that doesn't mean this specific community has the level of fandom to make subs for all of them necessary.

The one recommendation I do have is having fewer pinned threads. It's a hassle to get to the actual recent posts when you've got ten threads at the top, especially when several of them haven't been posted in for weeks or months.

New releases, general music, general banter, ekt. That’s it.

Would love it if people got together for a compilation again. We are the music makers keyosc after all. Might be a bit besides the point but it seemed to me the past few years nothing of the sort happened not because there wasn't any interest but because there wasn't really an incentive to make some cool shit together

thanks. Yes, hard for me to keep up with the threads.

i think a "local meet ups" sub forum might be useful even though those things kinda happen organically when there's a reason to meet up.
