I’m suddenly very nervous about not being able to access a ton of invaluable aphex twin trivia / info on the new site.  If there is such stuff preserved, how accessible will it be? Or will we all just have to repopulate everything from a blank slate through oral tradition?

I don’t know about aphex twin trivia, but when it comes to watmmmemes, @usagi is going to have to be that kid from Beyond Thunderdome and recite the oral history to us as we enter Tomorrow-morrow Land.

AtomTM should have a sub-forum (he releases like mad, his output is varied, innovative and interesting), but again, he doesn't fit the mould here.

yeah well, interesting,  I really consider Atom as one of the biggest ,

but dunno,   if we all want to have a subforum for each one favorites,   the artists subforum could go from a few artists like it is now,  to somethoing  like 50+ subforums....   and then it would not make sense anymore   (they'll be underworld sub, coil sub, ceephax sub, fsol sub, vsnares sub,  etc....)

so I'm quite asking : do artists subforum should be kept and as is,   or as some of you said, should be removed and just keeping new releases subforum, in where our fav artists music will be dicussed anyhow.    yet keeping artists subforum as it was on watmm is a  watmmers community landmark that may be need to keep.

my 2 cents,  I let you make the choice and I'll be happy with whatever comes at the end about this.

it would be nice if those of those of us that are migrating to the new forum could keep our original WATMM join date & post count somehow. seeing as how this is a forced migration it would be a shame to give up that aspect of the forums history. it gives a nice indication of how long the community has been going & how long people have been contributing to it, even if the name & 'location' has changed.

yes I Agree.      shoudt it not afraid new ones to come in  (but it was not the case in watmm, we see new members the way along, so no problem

I mean,  according to my own experience, (I joined in 2020), not that I will take more granted of something that's been written by an oldest member or a most-posts-count members  above a newcomers, I objectively keep in mind that it's all subjective when sharing thoughts and feelings about music and general life stuff.  but I somehow rely on those "old daddy" ones when it comes to forum use issues and moderating people alongside the official moderators, or just to  keep (or explain) the current paricular / historical jokes or memes.

I mean yeah ,   keeping subscription date of users and their posting counts is a good thing I guess.    not  like "who have the longer dick" but   " he knows some things in there and it could help "   . ....and also, as a continuity to the watmm forum community.  like, a new forum, but proudly rooted from here.    dunno if clear , hard to explain in proper english.

When is thisnew site starting? Be great if it has a half decent UX

It’s going to need another six months of voting on each possible feature.

Yes, but an "other media" subforum could also support more active discussions regarding specific movies/Books/video games... Rather than having to search in 800+ pages to find some discussion and opinions.

Would probably get more activity than a soccer subforum imho

The football subforum is going bye bye.

in san diego i lived in this apartment with a friend and it was sort of along U shape but rectangular. in the middle was a pool and it was concrete everywhere. so in the summer the kids would go bananas and were loud af all day and the kind of screams and yells and kid fun where ya can't tell if they're having a great time or if someone just pulled their arms until the shoulder popped out of the socket. chaos. pandemonium.  amplified by concrete.

one day i'd had it and was tired after but surviving on angst so i started playing records w/the windows open. the windows face the pool. we were on the 2nd floor. i was playing loud af and mixing stuff and got to the Venetian snares moment and really cranked it until i couldn't hear the noise outside and within a few minutes the building manager was in the window yelling at me to turn it down. i felt satisfied. i can't remember which record it was but it matched the chaos outside and surpassed it and was funky as hell at the same time.

i then turned it down and closed the windows and drank a large La Fin du Monde and thus began my evening. i laughed and got drunk. i think i had a 2nd la fin du monde.  for the glory.

Re: Forum software. Please not the one like here. EDIT: OK YOU PICKED THE SAME. There's those checkboxes which define what subforums to display. It has always reset for me. Main reason why I missed out on so many threads. eg End of watmm threads.

Recognised Squarepusher Dostrotime release weeks later because of this.

I'm probably old, but I like the past phpbb forums the most.

And keep out politics at all cost.

I have no idea what checkboxes you’re talking about?

Screenshot. That's on Android. Filter is always falling back to just one group.

OK now finally I looked at it. Was my mistake. Simple... I called a specific forum directly via a bookmarked URL. Like below one. I think this also resets the filter.

forum.watmm.com/forum/16-new-upcoming-releases/

When on the page that lists topics in a forum, can the pinned threads have a slightly different background color/brightness to more easily distinguish them?

That little "pin" icon is way too small to easily visually discriminate where the pinned threads stop and the regular threads begin.

We’ll see what we can do, but honestly going to try and stay away from having many pinned threads at all.

Is it fixed then? Glad that’s sorted out!

Less pinned threads is always better, but I'd still like to ask to make the dividing line between pinned and regular threads more visually obvious.  Thanks!

Better to use this as bookmark: https://forum.watmm.com/discover/unread/?&view=condensed

It shows all threads with unread posts. From all (sub)forums. In one view. As if there aren't any subforums. It's the closest to browsing watmm without subforums or pinned threads.
