we've had some issues with trolls and dupes. Trying to work through that.

might be a good idea to have people 'authenticate' their keyosc accounts via WATMM. for example, i already registered an account @ keyosc with the same username/avatar that i use here, but how do you know that's really me? one of the mods here could pm me a message or numeric code or whatever, and then i could log in to my keyosc account and pm that same code to one of the mods over there, proving that i control both accounts.

Making fun of both women and transexuals is a great way to bring them flocking back, no doubt.

Just replying to Kakapo's shitpost on the previous page, not taking a stab at the new place.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Again if you could point out where this is happening so we can both address it here and look out for it on keyosc, that would be great.

I'm trans and I reckon some people would like to be able to put pronouns in bio - I probably would prefer not to, because I actually don't think people use them in this format - most of the time, you just refer to people by their username - but some people might like the option. I personally am not offended by the night/heat thing, but I will say that I do feel more comfortable in places where it's clear that trans people are welcome - like me and my friend are going to a queer friendly drum and bass night on Friday, and even though gender isn't necessarily relevant to the music, it just means I know I don't need to be anxious about feeling out of place - I went to one electronic festival last year, and I was a bit worried about the vibe because it was a bit less crazy musically than I usually go to, but someone walking past me said "you are fucking beautiful" in a way that was super friendly and I was like ah I guess people are chill here with the trans thing....

So I'm basically saying that if you want any kind of minority to feel welcome, something that makes it clear that we are welcome can make a big difference.. at the same time I wouldn't want to be uptight about it and make it some kind of cringe thing where we have to talk about it all the time...

"Whoa! Check it out! RO-BIGH-DUHS!"

sigh.. "That's Ribena.."

We have a decent plan in place that has worked already.
hopefully it won’t be a huge issue.

I have a surprising idea, but I'm not sure, if that's what it will be about:

The new forum should welcome music enthusiasts.

dude the whole forum is going to be 99% edgy trolls who think they dethroned joyrex and took back their freedom. it's not going to be rainbows and lollipops, especially if you're trans or autistic.

watmm offshoots and side-communities always had a history of descending into toxicity. jus' sayin.

You're ready for the world then. Do you like white knights, btw.? As WATMMs certificated anti-RDJ troll (remember, he was only relevant until Windowlicker) I qualify 100% for the knowledge about not exactly being welcome. But a white knight or a green frog defending me - no. pls.

So I guess a white knight is someone trying to get into your pants by defending you? Not sure how you'd tell them apart from someone who is just being nice, but I guess I would find that a bit weird. Arguments about musical taste is a bit different, but tbh we should probably just drop all that stuff anyway, personally I find it more fun to share stuff you're excited about, but I guess people get irritated by the idol worship and the ubiquity, which I do get

It was a joke Silent Member, a watmm joke.  A joke about watmm.  The target of the joke was watmm.  This is why Trump won.

I was with you until you got into the trans stuff and then my brain short circuited.

yeah I mean, how can one make a joke about misogynists and transfobes using the words trans/woman by impersonating one... to me it makes sense, and it makes me laugh... now, I agree to some extent with mr. 🐸, I am in fact a simpleton so take it easy on me, this is an honest and legitimate question... maybe@hoggycan school me on this? I mean no disrespect I swear, if it does sound like it it's just because I'm ignorant... 🤷‍♂️

maybe the answer is don't? Just don't do jokes about misogynists and transfobes cause it might be interpreted the other way around? a trans person or a woman might not know that it's actually a joke directed at the perpetrator?

Are you saying like in an ironic satirical way, making fun of bigots? Sounds fine to me, but maybe doesn't translate well to a text format? Like in Poe's law. The trouble is, some humour is only funny when you trust someone.. I dunno it's a tough one

On an unrelated note, I had a read back through some previous pages, I gotta say the whole woke/anti woke drama thing is pretty played out tbh - most of the people I know who belong to a minority find that stuff boring - who cares about debates - as long as there's basic respect between people, the odd slip up or insensitive remark is not that important. I think most of it was fuelled in the 2010's by algorithmic attention seeking, pigeonholing people into the most extreme political divisions possible.. personally I hate getting into debates about trans stuff, when I'm with my friends we don't talk about it at all, we just get on with our lives and have fun. I still hate bigotry, but I mostly just keep those people out of my life, life is too short to argue with assholes

For me 12th October 2009 was the most important day of my life.  For Joyrex, it was Tuesday.

We are trying our very best to avoid paid subscriptions and ads.

honestly i think a paid subscription is probably the way to go. maybe a limited free tier for a 3 month trial or something? idk if that's possible but just thinking out loud.
