Everything sounds so... weak. It's the same thing with Star Time 1.

Paradise Garage is the song I wanted most, but after hearing the bass he plays over it I couldn't give a fuck. I'm going to stick with the shitty live recordings where the distortion and my imagination made it sound a lot better. I was going to preorder the cd, but I don't know if I'll even buy it after hearing those samples.

Great ideas with a poor execution, in my opinion. I was really looking forward to this. :unhappy:

i haven't heard it yet, but i feared this would be the case

i think Squarepusher has lost his engineering and mixing

abilities on his last 2 lps. His composition

technique is still amazingn but its put through a really

unpolished tiny sounding paper thin production

routine

i really think he needs to put his ego aside and just

hire a producer or engineer to mix his shit for him from now on

unless his goals for music right now are something along the lines of

'amazing sqaurepusher musical workouts played on a sheet of tin foil'

I think squarepusher is too old now to actually do anything that noteworthy or innovating. I mean, this is good, but it just sounds like more of the same lackluster hello everything production. It sounds nice on headphones.

What's interesting is that all of his jungle influenced music sounds thinner with each release. It's definitely the way he wants it to sound considering "The Modern Bass Guitar" sounds pretty fat while a lot of other songs on Hello Everything don't. Though I think that worked for those songs

I can remember being a little disappointed (although not like this) when the Venus No. 17 record came out because it sounded thinner in comparison to the Breezeblock set.

How does Illegal Dustbin sound, by the way? The Amazon clip only plays part of the intro, so it's hard for me to make it out. There's a nice distortion on that break.

qnio boomkak samples sound rather good even with the *beeps*, these samples on amazon sound really thin, I fear it's actually how the tracks sound like, the drums on JAS sounded thin too like these tracks in a whole.

Yeah the breezeblock set sounded way, way better than the actual record.

My friend bought JAS, he hated it, so he then bought Buzz Caner to make up for it. Pusher's new marketing strategy imo.

No.

Just no.

Fucking whack it through ozone if it's not loud and pumping enough for you. He's got his own shit going on.

Listen to his new records alongside some 70s fusion shit. I think that's what he's going for.

Urg. How about he hires you to master his stuff to all fuckery? Sheesh.

gabba /acid track doesn't seem to be on it...

I believe the track you are refering to is Illegal Dustbin the final track on the EP, it starts with a fantastic acid bassline which unfortunately gets disregarded for ridiculous pounding kick drums, that filthy hoover bass and hardcore/breakcoresque fills. It's good ridiculous fun but sounds like 3 songs squashed together to me.

Overall I think I'll really enjoy the EP, Startime 1 is a beautiful lullaby, I love the chord progressions, the track gives me shivers live. People who are querying whether the Bangface tracks are on the EP or not, most are, Paradise Garage is the 2nd track, Startime 1 is the 3rd, Arterial Fantasy is the 12th and Illegal Dustbin the 13th. It's a real shame not to have tracks 6,7, and 8 though, I think they're all older tracks and therefore may not see a release anytime soon. I'd love to be proved wrong though! Can't wait to recieve this, it's out the day before my birthday, a nice present for myself!

Looking forward to finding out what Solo Electric Bass 1 is all about...?

Alright then.

Well that's a shame, it sounded great live when I was at his gig in Amsterdam, I only noticed that gabba beat and the great acid riff and thought the rest were other tracks..

'piccolo drumset' for such peppy quirky music!

I'm not sure how many people have caught onto this, but the reason the snares sound like this in JAS is because the drum parts were played at a slower tempo(cause hes not that fast and accurate at drums), and then he sped them up later(not time stretch, but resampled, played back at a different rate).

6. Illegal dustbin is very slow-paced, and very disorted breaks. The bassline is weird. Kind of a cool song so far, there is some really sick stuff going on. Distorted vocal samples "ARE YOU DOWN WITH THE UNDERGROUND", "HOTTEST MUSIC ON THE MOTHERFUCKIN PLANET!".

it sounds like puff daddy on the vocals

(Bob Wilson) Sorry... you created that reality tunnel, you can find your way out... You built the Trap... you know the design better than anyone...sagatsfz3stage.jpg
