Guest Ultravisitor

everything i've heard since the couple of great tracks on hello everything have sounded poo.

likewise with his live performances (or so it seems to me, maybe im missing something)

the ones i have been to have consistently got worse.

they've been great fun, but after glastonbury 2005 he just got worse each year.

listening now, on youtube ().

so far sounds perspex is the only track i don't like- it starts well, but the bassline... meh.

overall, yeah... i agree it sounds "thinner", specially star time 1. but anyway, i guess it's because this ep is not intented to be listened sitting on your ass at home?

edit: it doesn't sounds thin. it sounds dry.

nah... beyond the shitty youtube compression, the ep sounds less effect proccesed, like in, to give an extreme example, ultravisitor. this is just hard and dry breaks/909's, basslines & synths. i think is made on purpose, knowing these tracks are perfect for the dancefloor. i kind of like it that way! harsh danceable music.

Loving the new EP..

.. as exepected... we got the 4 new bangface/JAS tour tracks and a few new ones to-boot. The other unreleased JAS tour ones ones were played on breezeblock06 anyway, bar 1.

I still love the trash JAS tracks but these dancefloor ones are where I'm most cosy.

Specially Start time 1 and illegal dustbin - fucking love it!!!

i judt listening on youtube. sounds like a bunch of reworkings of star time (heliacal torch being the best and th e1st track i listened to) . and paradise garage i was not feeling, arterial fantasy is good cause nobody chops the worm and the amen quite like squarepusher but on the whole it sounds like his chord progressions are comin out of some kind of a "squarepusher.vst" to me

this EP is brilliant. listen to it with a decent pair of headphones or on a decent sound system and it won't sound so papir thin. I think it's pretty colorful and awezum.

I really wish Tom would stop using the Amen. He needs to move on and get some new drum sounds. Too many people are using the break and as a result it dilutes the effectiveness of when Tom uses it because it's too easy to associate it with lesser artists.

honestly i hope he never stops with the amen and 909's. just a part of his roots. though i wish he'd go back to using his 303

edit: though i hope he doesn't use the amen break as lazily as he did on hello everything. he can do much better than that, as shows on this numbers lucent ep

yeah. hanningfield window sounds real similar to plotinus, which sounds real similar to quadrature, and now i'm hearing similar melodies all over again on these tracks.

Squarepusher should use the 606 again like he did on Duke Of Harringay.

Alroy Road Tracks is some of his best work in my opinion.

chunky's 50p:

boring at home

wicked at a rave

the production is old hardcore vibes. who cares it's just an ep for a nightclub. treat it for what it is dont expect what it isnt supposed to be

get rid of the posh artwork and just have a plain 12" jacket

the artwork should reflect the "put this on in a busy party" dont bother listening at home

thats why people are getting so angry they expect something to play at home

fucking PR marketing shitty artwork bullshit fuck off

I'm a raver AND chinstroker and i think this EP works on both levels and i don;t think the graphics are affecting my ability to appreciate the sounds.

the bottom line is a lot of folks seem to expect "hard normal daddy 2" or "go plastic 2".

I don't .... i expect banging live sets and he ALWAYS delivers them no matter what the studio output

Yeah it's really great, tracks like sarcacid [part 2] are something that only Squarepusher can do well, also it sounds like he was still learning the amen break.
