The only common ground between the two really is only revealed in HL2: EP. 2.

There are some references in Portal as well.

There's a "powerpoint" presentation in one of the back rooms of Portal that has some slides on Black Mesa.

just bought a 3ds with pilotwings and sf4. Pretty cool so far

awesome. i'll be getting one soon, but it's release date is a little too soon to the ipad 2. plus the launch lineup is a bit weak.

Absolutely CANNOT wait for Mario 3ds (OMG) and mario kart 3ds, and ocarina of time 3ds, and kid icarus 3ds xD

currently watching my roommate and friend play through lost in shadow on wii.

such a good idea for a game! i'm not playing it so i can't really comment on the controls or w/e but it looks fantastic, even though its not HD or whatevs, really REALLY brilliant idea.

On my phone: Chrono Trigger - I've played it loads of times in the past but kept forgetting where I'd got to so would have to restart. This has been the perfect game to play on my journey to and from work, Square would make an absolute killing if they sold their old RPGs to the mobile market.

On my lappy: Finally got my fookin' shit video card drivers sorted, so played through FRACT (had a brief chat with the developer after I beat it who reckons he's probably going to now develop it into a full game given the positive feedback he's got) and am about 2/3rds through Osmos. The full version of Osmos suprised me, the demo seems to show that you can quickly plough though each level so long as you don't steer like an idiot but in the full game there's levels that you've got to be nearly pixel perfect with your inertia and you have to work out what would be the most beneficial/least detrimental direction to go without 'feeding' the rival cells. Well good fun.

On my PS3: Pacman DX and Afterburner Climax, though I seem to hardly play my PS3 recently....

Try Pixeljunk Shooter 1 or 2... brilliant little games!

The next couple of months are going to be hectic. Portal 2, LA Noire, and Brink(???) and then silence until september-nov.

My 2007 MBP apparently meets the min gpu requirements for Portal 2. Is it going to suck bad on my MBP?

I've got the first one, it's really great fun - Reminds me of the Amiga PD days !

Ah I thought it never made it over here - looks like it's been renamed Lost in Shadow in the UK. Really going to have to pick up a copy, it looks really good !

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

HL2 was a great experience, but for me a bit too long and too linear. You always knew where to go and it all seemed like you were in a movie of some sort. It worked, but was far from being one of the greatest experiences of my (gaming) life

I also liked Half life 1 better actually.

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

nah, it's source innit. source isn't too demanding.

After playing pilotwings 3d for over 3 hours straight last night I can positively confirm that the glasses free 3d will leave you with a rather severe headache if you play for an extended period of time. It's really fucking cool though.

Since I don't have a projector anymore, I won't continue the single player of Uncharted 2. I'm somewhere around 90% but I wouldn't wanna play it on my tv, or on my own.

So I'm playing the chapters I already finished again and try to do them stealth-only where I can. I'm not sure whether it's possible though - seems like sometimes there's no way of going by unnoticed. Obviously, there's shooting parts where the enemies are aware of you right away, or where you have to run, but the areas that are designed to offer both possibilities seem to have some limits. Or is it me?

currently playing through MGS4 (just started chapter 2 holy fuck it's absolutely incredible! <3).

i have uncharted 2 sitting on my shelf. don't think i'll touch it until i pick up and play through the first one tho : )

I must admit I haven't played through the first one and it's probably better to do that first. I guess I'm missing out a little on the insider jokes and character references and stuff. The overall story isn't connected, I think. I'll play it after I finished 2, and by the time I'm done with that, 3 will be out. :emotawesomepm9:

lol

Played through and beat Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth on WiiWare. I thought it was a great back-to-basics game. For the most part it looks somewhere between the nes and snes games, but then every so often they throw in some fx or a sprite that couldn't have been done on those systems.

Of course I had to bust out all the roms then, too. I even was playing the n64 versions a little. I know some purists dislike those games, but I enjoy them more than some of the later 3d games (although I haven't played the newest one which I hear is quite good.)

Played Contra: Rebirth as well. It was fun but pretty short. Just didn't quite grab me like the Castlevania one did.

oh man, i couldn't play castlavania rebirth at all. it didn't grab me :I

you've probs played it, but also on wiiware is castlevania:rondo of blood. that game is siiiiiiiiick : )

Which is the new castlevania game that's like Symphony of The Night but the pov zooms in and out of the castle ?

Currently playing though Silent Hill: Shattered Memories after a gap of several months. I forgot how much I enjoyed it, yeah some of the chase bits are quite frustrating but the atmosphere is probably one of the best in the whole franchise. I think the limited wii hardware means they've had use atmospheric graphical tricks in the same way that they did with Silent Hill 1 with the fog - it's insanely isolated and yet also claustrophobic, and the way that the whole game is tailored by your responses to the psychologist is really quite unique. The scares are much different to that of the others too, especially with the fact you have no weapon. The section I just passed generated just as much terror as that of the 'mirror' section in Silent Hill 3:
