Which is the new castlevania game that's like Symphony of The Night but the pov zooms in and out of the castle ?

not too sure? i know the DS games are based on Symphony of the Night as far as gameplay style is concerned (massive metroid style castle, rpg elements with weapons and items).

the DS games are absolutely awesome, btw :)

oooh. only just foudn out about this.

Harmony of Despair

is that what you're referring to?

"ccording to 1UP.com, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair may be released on Sony's PlayStation Network if the game sells well on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade.[8] As of October 2010 the game has sold over 90,000 units."

Pleeeeasse be released on PSN.

Since I don't have a projector anymore, I won't continue the single player of Uncharted 2. I'm somewhere around 90% but I wouldn't wanna play it on my tv, or on my own.

So I'm playing the chapters I already finished again and try to do them stealth-only where I can. I'm not sure whether it's possible though - seems like sometimes there's no way of going by unnoticed. Obviously, there's shooting parts where the enemies are aware of you right away, or where you have to run, but the areas that are designed to offer both possibilities seem to have some limits. Or is it me?

what part did you stop playing on? I'm just curious, i won't spoil it.

We stopped right after the monastery. I've played a section of it many times now, trying to stealth my way through it, but it seems to me that it's impossible. When you start the chapter "The Monastery", there's a little section with parked vehicles and five soldiers walking about. Those are easy to kill off secretly. Then you move a little bit up the road and reach the entrance to the monastery and there's more guys there. Elena says something like "careful, they haven't seen us yet".

Now, I manage to kill six of them altogether, but the last three seem impossible. If it wasn't for a single guy, it'd be easy. But there's this one dude carrying a shotgun and he stands at the far other side. There's no way to sneak up on him from behind, and the two other guys are right in his field of view as he never moves away or turns around. I tried to lure him so he'd leave his position, by moving out of cover or aiming at him for a little bit, which works, but then the other soldiers turn around (which most certainly is scripted cause that usually doesn't happen) and therefore I can't kill him secretly either.

after 2:40 - the guy in the video kills pretty much the same guys I manage to kill secretly before the alarm is triggered, although I do it without using the crossbow and much slower. Then he stops giving a shit. But the right guy @3:17 isn't the problem, he can be disabled silently by going around the other way. The problem guy stands right where the other soldier takes cover @3:33, and he sees you kill the guy by the fire as well as another guy standing in the upper section.

Currently playing though Silent Hill: Shattered Memories after a gap of several months. I forgot how much I enjoyed it, yeah some of the chase bits are quite frustrating but the atmosphere is probably one of the best in the whole franchise. I think the limited wii hardware means they've had use atmospheric graphical tricks in the same way that they did with Silent Hill 1 with the fog - it's insanely isolated and yet also claustrophobic, and the way that the whole game is tailored by your responses to the psychologist is really quite unique. The scares are much different to that of the others too, especially with the fact you have no weapon. The section I just passed generated just as much terror as that of the 'mirror' section in Silent Hill 3:

Shattered Memories is a very good game. It has some unique feel about it, different to the other (good) Silent Hill's. The soundtrack is extremely depressing, in a good way. The only downside to it is that there isn't any real sense of danger while in the "normal" Silent Hill. It didn't bother me that much since I enjoyed the atmosphere and environments, but I guess all they had to do was to put a few creatures here and there. If there was a single encounter outside of the frozen world, I would have been on edge constantly.

So how did you answer the psycho doc's welcoming form? I'm not quite sure how it affects things in the game.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

oh you are most definitely not wrong, but it's fun to play co op and mst3k all the terrible dialogue and voice acting and compete for most mindless kills

ah. I see how interacting with human beings would help.

how are those? they look fun.. portable mario kart? i mean, damn.

I really enjoy mine, it was tough to get used to the 3d at first, but now it's grown on me. There isn't a 3ds mario kart out, or even announced as far as I know, but they are going to release a re-textured, higher res, version of Ocarina of Time, and a new Kid Icarus game.

ok...so....im considering buying the online code for Xenogears...can someone tell me whether its worth it or not?

im a ff7 fan of course, and 8,10,and 12 had their perks, although less enjoyable....i know next to nothing about Xenogears other than its known as one of the greatest rpgs of all time....well...i checked some gameplay on youtube and the battles seemed to be SO drawn out....am i thinking too hard about it? i just dont want to expect too much i guess, trying to get to the bottom of this hype.

I'm exactly in the same boat as you. FF7 is my favorite game of all time. And I was busy playing it and MGS. Didn't have the money for Xenogears. Heard it was great. I'm definitely thinking of buying it on PSN.

If Sony added trophies to PSOne games, I would be sooo happy. [/trophy slave]

So I downloaded Crysis 2 and installed it. Started playing it. And wow! This game looks amazing. I've got it running very smoothly on my GTX460 at Hardcore graphics setting. This is waaaayyyy up there for best graphics in a game.

What I've seen of Crysis 2 looked good but not good enough to call it the best graphics. The guys are just good at the lighting and they make nice use of lens flare and other post-filters, so it looks more realistic and atmospheric, and the level design is pretty graphics-friendly with lots of geometric buildings and stuff. Organic things like trees still look a little origami. It's still very good looking but it's not mindblowing compared to other recent games.

Yeah I have no idea on how your responses actually affect the game. Supposedly things like the appearance of monsters become more sexualised or become gruesome depending on some answers, but other than that I have no idea. I've tried to respond as truthful as possible, and so far it's probably been the most deeply affecting of the games in the franchise - so either they've nailed the tailoring of the game using the psych tests or it's just been well written/directed in the first place.

Mario Kart 3DS seems to be pretty official, I believe.

Although, I'm more excited for Super Mario 3DS. Hot damn I love a good solid Mario platforming game (the galaxy games were great)>

supposedly, the game found out that my friend is gay. but I think the elements that pointed towards that are always showing up in the game.

I played the game with friends on my first playthrough, I answered the initial test truthfully but then we started messing about and purposely selecting wannabe-psycho answers. Like we painted the "Happy Family" picture completely black and crossed out the people's faces with red. The result was that the game was rather tame and not many disturbing elements showed up. The second time (the gay playthrough), my friend was being truthful all the way and stuff started getting much more horrifying. There was a dead bear in a cabin in the Reforestation Area that just wasn't there when I first played it.

Another thing that must have flawed the game's judgement in my case was my tendency to go to the less interesting place and save the better one for the end. So I went into the wedding dress store cause I thought the video store was cooler, and I went into the shitty sportsbar cause I wanted to get it over with before heading to the cool diner. Unfortunately, the game takes your first choice as your favorite choice.

I think the game is supposed to do the opposite of what you want it to do most of the time. E.g. when we played as the stupid psycho character, we filled the school's timetable with shitty un-fun classes (Math, Science, P.E.) and as a result we were walking around the art rooms. On the truthful playthrough, we put Art, Creative Writing, Sex Ed etc. and we ended up with some (much less creative) planetarium-puzzle that actually made me feel uncomfortable, especially the way it was "solved". The creatures never looked very sexual for us since we all selected yes on the roleplaying thing and were generally not being very prude (which the game told us in the end, so it got that right). Apparently the game felt no need to scare us with phallic shapes because of that.

I had not heard of the mariokart for 3ds, cool. To those asking about xenogears, if you liked the playstation era final fantasy games then I think you will really enjoy it. The battles are somewhat convoluted, but the mech battles are pretty neat and it has a pretty involving story. Although my memory could be tainted with nostalgia.
