I tried the demo of Super Chime Deluxe on PS3... neat puzzle game, and has some really good electronic music tracks by some notable artists (Orbital, Plaid, etc.)

Played through and beat Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth on WiiWare. I thought it was a great back-to-basics game. For the most part it looks somewhere between the nes and snes games, but then every so often they throw in some fx or a sprite that couldn't have been done on those systems.

Of course I had to bust out all the roms then, too. I even was playing the n64 versions a little. I know some purists dislike those games, but I enjoy them more than some of the later 3d games (although I haven't played the newest one which I hear is quite good.)

Played Contra: Rebirth as well. It was fun but pretty short. Just didn't quite grab me like the Castlevania one did.

oh man, i couldn't play castlavania rebirth at all. it didn't grab me :I

you've probs played it, but also on wiiware is castlevania:rondo of blood. that game is siiiiiiiiick : )

I didn't get Rondo yet but I will. I'm actually playing the snes Dracula X atm so it'll be cool to compare the two.

I liked rebirth for it's tongue in cheek-ness. I think M2 kinda wanted you to half chuckle as you play it.

what sort of gameplay are we expecting from this? Kind of like GTA or something?

Yes, it's a open world game. Not as shooting oriented as GTA, but more story-driven with detective missions/puzzles. That's the impression i've got from the things i've read about the game.

LA Noire aims to blur the line between watching a movie and playing a game. For Rockstar, the story in LA Noire is the entire game - not the ability to shoot hookers or spend hundreds of hours online. Just how compelling will the story be? Well, apparently you'll have a good 30 hours to be the judge of that.

That comes directly from the horse's mouth, as Rockstar reportedly said during an interview at PAX East that the 23 main cases which make up the game's progression will take 25-30 hours to complete.

There are very few games these days that work specifically to have an experience single, offline players will enjoy. LA Noire hopes to bring that kind of intimate experience back to the forefront.

It is also a departure from previous Rockstar titles, because even though LA Noire still promises a lot of blood and sex, the player's point of view this time is on the right side of the law.

The biggest attention to the game, though, is in its highly sophisticated presentation. The development team created a technology called MotionScan, in which actors were motion-captured by a huge swath of 32 cameras, each taking in minute facial expressions and other details in an effort to make their virtual counterparts as realistic and humanlike as possible.

In other words, there's a lot of stuff built into LA Noire. In addition to the 25-30 hours of core gameplay and story, LA Noire is still an open-ended game at its heart, so the potential is there to spent several dozen hours before unraveling the entire plot.

That looks pretty cool, never heard of it before. Seems to have a nice way of storytelling. Cool thing with the facial expressions, only the face-textures look a bit too plastic somehow, could be a little more detailed. But it's pre-release trailers so maybe they're still working on it.

alright, so it turns out xenogears just pisses me off....really annoying slow moving text blocks..

I reinstalled one of my favorite PC games of all time: Europa Universalis.

Overview/Review of the Game

Basically its a history nerd's wet dream. You get to pick any country between 1399 and 1821, and fight for survival/diplomatically or militarily annex neighbors, convert your populous, create colonies, fuck up the fucking Holy Roman Empire, unite Japan under a single shogunate, sabotage elections, on and on and on

i bought the new patch but its SLOW AS SHIT...so dont get the Divine Wind version..at least not yet...the new maps look beautiful though.

Few things (some still quite jazzy)

1. Half life 2 and all of the expansions (finished last week) = best FPS I've ever encountered (with exception of quake 1). Just, amazing. Graphics, story, game play, weapons, vehicles, length, everything. 6/5

2. Portal + bonus levels etc (just finished: Fantastic, only one time did it make me rage. Best ending of any game in many many many years (last good ending I can really remember is megaman 63 unlocking the crazy glitch/bonus mode)

Currently Playing: Quest for Glory 1 "So you want to be a hero?" on dosbox. Hardcore nostalgia losing engaged. Amazing how many options you have in such an :old" game.

on a side note, I got REALLY into TF2 for a minute, but i9t's been out so long, playing it online is not too fun b/c so many propel have their whole setups configured and it's impossible for people not "in the know/scene" to have fun b/c the medic heavy weapons combo, snipers knowing the best spots, and all around fuck off-ness of people jabbering on mics during the game (which is more annoying than defeating). Anyone with tips on how to get around this plz share.

1. turn off voice chat. it won't help, but you'll be less annoyed while playing.
