vamos scorcho
not an 'antichrist' fan. the first time i watched it i thought it was pretty good then steadily lost interest the second time my feelings were even more negative. i couldn't help but feel it was far more style than substance. still, some pretty interesting scenes. i haven't liked any von trier i've seen other than dogville, which was great. The correct rating for Logan's Run has always been simply: A/10 where "A" is the subjective enjoyment of viewing Agutter. As a variable, A is dependent on a number of factors, including picture quality (where the picture includes Agutter) and the viewer's attraction to Agutter. So it's not a perfect system. But let's assume that my inherent, subjective enjoyment of Agutter is nontrivial, such that A/10 is usually approaching 1. Does the digital transfer increase the picture quality sufficiently to give us a 2A or even a 1.2A if we clarify that A is the subjective enjoyment of viewing Agutter in standard definition? This is really all I'm interested in knowing. kthx Edited January 14, 2012 by baph Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43385-a-few-films-recently-watched/page/413/#findComment-1731605 Share on other sites

Atop
Agutter will always have a special place in my pants. 'An American Werewolf in London', 'Walkabout', and 'Logan's Run'...three films that I love and she is naked in all of them. She had talented boobs. And a lovely face. LUDD YOU ARE SO CORRECT ABOUT 'THE TREE OF LIFE'. Scares me to think that we agree on such matters. Hold me mommy. And to whomever was wondering about watching Von Trier films should watch them all. Guest Shit Attack
SENNA - 8/10 - good documentary interesting + entertaining. spooky sense of inevitablity to it (maybe reading too much into it) but really did look like he knew he was about to check out in that footage of him sitting in his car before he read some weird bible passage about going to meet god or something. also was interesting seeing the backdoor politics/favouritism that goes on in that kind of sport Kill list - 3/10 - british movie looked like a tv show (maybe because of low budget but still). was entertaining enough till it got stupid towards the end (even tho it was obviously leading up to something it was still stupid and seemed like a different film tacked on) also was confused by the laugh at the end? some of the violence was trying to hard to be shocking too (bit with hammer particularly) + the editing seemed weird/jumpy probably intentionaly but actually thought it was broke at first. Treasure of the Sierra Madre - 8/10 - good old movie, was entertaining and had an original story and the characters were kind of unsympathetic without being unlikeable and you could see why they acted the way they did even if they were being dicks + ruining their chances of making off with the gold submarine - 5/10 - nother british movie but this one actually did mostly seem like a film and not tv for once. was pretty entertaining at first but would maybe have been a better short film cos it got really boring/pointless in the middle . bit too quirky for its own good + i really hated most of the people in it but was basically ok overall Poltergeist - 7/10 - hadnt watched all this before. Read somewhere that spielberg actually directed this movie but couldnt take credit for some technical reasons or something. if so its one of his better/ less sentimentalised films and was good top quality bumper entertainment in a slightly cheesy 80s family ghost story style. weird that both the daughters died after making the film too Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/43385-a-few-films-recently-watched/page/413/#findComment-1731868 Share on other sites

Guest ruiagnelo
Watched Mistérios de Lisboa (something like Mysteries of Lisbon when translated)yesterday. It surprised me because it's darker that what i was expecting, but it is really wonderfuly crafted. I noticed how one doesn't get to see a wide shot of Lisbon, or any other location during the 4 and half hours of the fim. There are always only close up shots of the locations, and then the interiors, which kind of adds a bit of mystery to the whole thing. The color pallette is beautiful too - lots of gold, dark green and grey tones. Also it is filmed in Portugal with Portuguese actors, which one doesn't get to see that often. Recommended. YO303
yeah, I didn't watch the inbeetweeners series back to back. If you want to make a four and a half hour film make it a mini-series on HBO it would work better that way, the only people that would invest in such a film in one sitting are snobs that stare at weird art for hours and pretend to analyse the artists with pseudo psychology.
