spider - 6.66/10 not cronenberg's best by any means but still full of his trademark wierdness... top acting from fiennes and richardson. left questioning whether the flashbacks are part of reality or the creation of his broken mind.

maybe because it sucks? there's a guy with a knife on the cover wtf

i don't know, i also want to see it.

I think it will make a good music video.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

It does seem to be one of those movies that will be projected on a screen at a live gig/party/club.

Watched a third of Troll Hunter, before turning it off as it was turd and an insult to my intelligence (not that I have that much)

Just having a 20 minute break halfway through Seven Samurai, breaks in films isn't a done thing for me but at 3.5 hours long its justified. I watched it about 15 years ago, and it is a classic but I find it a bit of hard work too. Thankfuly the sense of humour in it is essential otherwise it would be grinding.

Guest Benedict Cumberbatch

I thought troll hunter was fun. best bit when they switch gears from the creepy scare film into the comedy film (when the guy comes running out of the forest screaming "TRRRRROOOOOOLLLL"). I liked how it cut all the tension that they built

Game Change - HBO movie about the McCain/Palin campaign. Based on a book and according to the insiders it was a pretty accurate representation what went on in the McCain campaign when they brought Palin onboard. At first you kind of sympathize with Palin being so overwhelmed by all the attention, but then she turns into a petty bitch when she realizes that she is more popular than McCain. It's also quite cringeworthy when the campaign staff realize just how dumb and ignorant she is about everything. Julianne Moore and Ed Harris looked and sounded their parts well. Not any groundbreaking cinema, but worth a look if you are into politics.

When I caught sight of the first troll I knew it was game over. Bit too silly for me.

What did you expect, and would that really be better? I loved that they went all out in Troll hunter.

Punch-drunk love 9/10

INCREDIBLY underrated PTA film. Wtf guys why did no-one tell me this was so fucking good? I absolutely loved it. It looked beautiful, it sounded great (the music fit so well) and adam sandler was brilliant too. I think my new favourite PTA film and definitely my favourite sandler film.

yeah this movie is amazing. I pretty much love everything PTA does.

Just watched Schizopolis - pretty interesting, plays fast and loose with dialogue and narrative. Soderbergh directed and starred in this one, I think he makes a great comedy actor

Schizopolis is an amazing film, i really like Steven Soderbergh's experimental side.

very entertaining movie, i think they got a lot of stuff wrong and over simplified what happened. (I dont believe for a second that Sarah Palin was that out of their control and that she alone decided to bring up Ayers and Rev Wright) but it was very well done. It was one of the first movies i've ever seen to mix HD modern stock footage with filmed footage, and it worked pretty well. I Forgot how for the 2008 elections there was HD footage of pretty much every important event.

The problem i had with it is that they tried way too hard to humanize Sarah Palin,as well as John McCain it did a more effective job though than the Oliver stone W movie. It made the campaign seem far more human and rational than it probably actually was. Overall i think it was a missed opportunity to try to actually push a politically subversive message, otherwise its just a very entertaining piece of anti-republican red meat that liberals will go crazy for.

I don't think it's that anti-republican. McCain's campaign was pretty shit and Palin is indeed batshit insane.

you're right, i didn't mean to say that it was like an overtly anti republican movie, it went very far out of it's way to make McCain seem relatively sane and likable i thought. I guess im just in need of another hard hitting movie like Nixon to come and pull the rug out from under what people already know about that particular person. I feel like these are lacking in todays political movie culture

That movie was ridiculous, made me laugh like ten times.

Enter the Void 6/10

I loved the first half of the film, the visuals are shocking & brilliant, everything is brutaland peaceful at the same time. Engrossing & so well done, a major cinematic achievement imo. The second half felt less inspired and too long. I have no idea how I wish it could have been different, because I think the way the story was told was technically perfect; the shots & somewhat predictable content weren't as interesting after the first 2 hrs for me.

I would watch the first half again many times. Beautiful work.

i tried to watch it once and i just couldn't. the way the guy's death is depicted just made me very anxious and i had to shut it off.

There's been talks about a Reagan movie, but dunno more about it. But it could be difficult as Reagan is next to Jesus to most of the people, so that movie is probably going to sugar-coat it.

low expectations pleasantly surprised. haven't read the books so that didnt hinder my enjoyment. big bag o pocorn. good times. shame they won't make anymore, although it wrapped up pretty nicely really. not great but good. the actors were mostly useless: mcnulty i just don't buy in anything but the wire. the princess was meant to be hot but i didnt buy it (least she wasn't stick thin though). the main guy was fine although i kept thinking brendan fraser would have got this role 5 years ago not sure why.

im not that good at writing but here are some thoughts i put together for a blog post.

Rich man, Poor man, Beggar man, Thief.

I just watched Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (2011) with my dad, we are big fans of espionage and were quite worried when it was announced that this was being made for the movie theatres, just how do you make one of the most complicated books into a digestible 2 hour film?

Having seen the first attempt at putting it to screen in the form of the two TV series Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy (1979) and Smiley's People (1982) starring the masterful Alec Guinness which clock in at well over 9 hours, I was dubious that either could be condensed further and still remain captivating.

Thankfully my fears were dashed completely. The new tinker is an expertly crafted piece of work from a director that I have been keeping my eye on over the last couple of years, where the TV series floundered in depth upon depth, unnecessarily making it difficult to follow if you hadn't read the books, this film excels. Every character no matter how small has a role to play and is significant to the story, the cuts made to keep the running time low are scalpel precise and thus maintain all the meaty goodness of the original. If I had to sum it up in just one word it would be: Poise.

Read the books, watch the TV series and see the film, each plays its part to create an understated and real world of spy vs spy or more accurately put, suit vs suit.

where did you hide the real kaen?

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.
