A few films recently watched.

I'm starting a Robert Altman Binge.

Beginning with Nashville. One viewing is clearly not enough, and I intend to see it again at some point. I feel strong comraderie after watching this. I'm about halfway through Short Cuts at the moment. Really liking that too.

silent running - i hate it when movies are like that. i really liked it and all (the robots nearly broke my heart) BUT joan baez pissed me off and i felt like it was 90% design (which isn't really a bad thing), 8% hippie propaganda and 2% actual movie.

i bet sandisons loved it.

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Seems like the funniest comments were already made by others:

We Need To Talk About Kevin - Some dummy decided to make an art house version of The Bad Seed featuring the most unlikely romantic relationship I've ever seen in a film (John C Reilly and Tilda Swinton) that produces an inexplicably Asian son who shits himself on purpose. 0/10

just saw 'we need to talk about kevin'. pretty boring remake of 'omen' with thom yorke in a drag as the female lead. not recommended.

but yeah, this movie was pretty terrible. I guess I might become a serial killer too if Tilda Swinton were my mother. Extremely boring and even pretentious at times. Would be interesting to see the boy actors in other, better films.

Once it was over my gf exclaimed "zhe ge dianying hen SHIT! Wo shuo chou le ma?" - that movie was very SHIT! Did I say it right?

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

tilda swinton rustles my jimmys, she just has that aura of being completely and utterly evil to the core.

waking up at 7am on this poor excuse of a day finally gave me enough reason to not move out of my bed and watch movies i had on my wantlist for ages, so there it goes

american movie - this was good, but all the little pieces never really summed up into something. there's no real dramatic story there. i never felt like there was something special going on. a deadbeat makes a short horror movie over years and that's it. his goofy taken-too-many-acids braindead friend makes up for comedic relief, and is a true star of the feature. because other than that it would be a pretty sad movie about not makin it in life.

night of the comet - aside from being pretty slow for a post-apocalyptic teenage zomedy, seems like a perfect midnight tv movie that you catch while just flipping the channels, and you stay for the whole time. 'i'm not insane, i just don't give a fuck' line made my day so far.

lol, she's probably accepting applications, doesn't she have multiple love slaves already?

Shame - It was like watching a very mundane "day in the life" of some very attractive scumbumb. No structure, no storyline, just very attractive people and some hot softcore porn. 4/10

(at times it felt like i was watching American Psycho, the filmmaker was clearly ripping off AP)

Pretty much. I had kind of a hard time feeling bad for the main character in Shame. I'm sure he has trouble actually connecting with human beings, but when you have so much sex with exciting new partners on a regular basis, it would definitely make up for it.

If he actually wasn't good looking, and had to resort to the sketchiest means to get his rocks off every few hours, it would have been a shocking movie with some real truth to it.

Plus, the fact that I met a Japanese movie director a couple of years ago who I've been working for a couple of times and it has completely destroyed my love for Japanese movies.

You can't say that and not tell the story...

I did the soundtrack for a short anime movie about a year and a half ago and it was a fucking pain in the ass. I met up with the director and she was cool. We liked the same kind of music, we agreed on how the soundtrack should sound and so on and so on. But from there on it was like a migraine that wouldn't stop. She had a really hard time speaking her mind. It was almost as if the word 'no' didn't exist in her vocabulary which meant that she couldn't give me or anyone else who worked on her movie a straight answer. Every word that came out of her mouth was like a riddle. I was in an anime hell for 4 months and now it gives me the chills every time I watch an anime or a Japanese movie.

Whats the title of this anime?

Tucker and Dale V. Evil - Not much to analyze, just an awesome horror comedy movie - 9/10

Katrina Bowden (the main girl) was beautiful in this movie, just wow. 10/10 for her.

i enjoyed this movie much more than i thought i would. The part i liked most about it is the characters actually seemed kinda like real people. As if the apocalyptic plot was only to serve as the background for the way the movie unfolded (which is very uncharacteristic of pretty much any low budget 80s horror/scifi)

i laughed at some shit in it, yeah. but his self aware 90's gayness bothers me too much to really enjoy one of his projects.

speaking of the 90's, the preview for savages was in front of this. what a clusterfuck. does anyone find oliver stone edgy?

Edited by zaphod

his hair plugs create a nice edge, yes.

I recently found a theater near me that plays 2nd run films for $3 ($1.50 on tuesdays).

There, I saw

"woman in black" 9/10

No intellectual acrobatics, just good fun and scares that deliver.

"chronicle" 7.5/10

There were lots of obvious flaws, but, for what it was, it was very interesting and entertaining. I liked the part when they fly.

I'm looking forward to seeing Cabin in the Woods. I love seeing horror movies in the theater.

At a friend's place, we watched Troll 2 on Netflix

I'm not sure how to grade that one. It's clearly shit, but crazy as hell. I did find myself bored quite a bit. 3/10 I guess. There are lots of shittier movies out there that are more fun to laugh at, if that's your thing. I think a lot of people feel like they are supposed to enjoy it "ironically". At the end of the day, it's still shit.

Truth. I think the only real so bad it's good movie is probably The Room. Which I've watched more times than some good movies.

the room is a classic. it's a bad movie heaven.

i think troll 2 works best if you watch it back to back with best worst movie documentary about it.
