A few films recently watched.

I have all four of them (I will not say "quadrilogy," who puts a latin prefix with a greek suffix? Fuck that shit!) and watched them all roughly a year ago.

Resurrection is terrible. Alien 3 was merely not very good.

The Aliens director's cut is bloated and hits some off notes, but the theatrical release is a great, definitive action-SF film that is still actually enjoyable to watch.

Resurrection feels like it should have been a horror-comedy exploitation/deconstruction of the franchise, except it forgot the comedy and the horror and the deconstruction (or whatever elements of those were in Whedon's script were misread completely by Jeunet; I don't know) and ended up being merely exploitative.

Just a fucking mess.

I kinda like alien resurrerection, at least it's better then those alien vs predator movies

I haven't seen Resurrection in awhile... like a decade. Is it worth re-watching?

I was watching the Conversation last night, the coppola movie, and I fell asleep. Really tried to stay awake, but i did need to get sleep actually, had to wake up in 6 hours when I started it. Tonight I hope I can make it through it. I don't know why I never watched it, I hear good things, but the first half or so was kind of slow. If it doesn't improve tonight I may just have to check out this french Aliens movie. I can't remember anything about it.

Yeah I couldn't follow it too well tbh. Definitely not a fair shake.

Tokyo Rampage - 2/10 - Really boring. I only made it like 45 minutes in before I had to turn it off.

Zodiac - based on the recommendations in the "Top 5 films" thread. It's pretty good, definitely one of my favorite Fincher flicks. Great job by the cast, and the mood and tone of the movie was so perfectly eerie.

I watched the director's cut, so don't know how different that is from the original cinematic edit, but even though it was quite long, it didn't feel long at all.

I like Resurrection, more as a piss take of hollywood than anything else, I don't really think of it as a proper Alien movie. I haven't watched it in a while though, so maybe it's worse than I remember. Maybe it's better.

Watched Hodejegerne / Headhunters, pretty stupid, but it's sweet and tight, and doesn't muck about so I never had the chance to get annoyed or bored. Had some laughs, watched some shooting and running. buttered popcorn/10.

I would like Resurrection more if it played more like a piss-take, but it's quite muddled in tone and not very funny or clever. Eet ees definitely Fwench and trashy, though, hohohoh.

tight and tense, a harrowing and very enjoyable watch throughout.

I watched Bronson recently too, only got about 3/4 of the way through. Thought it was really bad.

Safe House - better than i expected but still just OK/10

Act Of Valour - hrmm but it didn't resolve (did they even realise that it didn't, maybe they forgot to check their own script) and some of it was pretty stupid but it passed the time/10

Chronicle - Man this movie started out alright, then they had a motor vehicle chase scene with computer graphics that were so cheap, i mean buy some assets guys, probably get a prerendered high def. taxi for 49 bucks online. Still though i forgave it. And then they went into space and something that din make sense happened. "oh it was so they could do that, fucking hell, there are better ways to have generated the same result you dumb fuckwit" (speaking to besson), and then the binsanity continued from there. feral. ahhwell/10. Watch it, but don't say that i didn't warn you.

So I'm about to watch Blade Runner for the first time. I've seen bits of it years ago, but no the whole thing from start to end.

My question: Which version is the best to watch? I just downloaded the 1997 cut. Is that the best one to watch?
