Autechre Autechre albums you don't "get"

You know, those releases that still have to catch your attention and respect.

For me it's Draft and Quaristice

um, none of them.

I'm afraid I have to list Amber, Anti EP and EP7.

Amber. I never understood what the big deal about it was.

All of the early stuff, I get so ADD when I put them on and I never want to finish listening to them. Amber, Tri Repitea, Incanabula. Don't get me wrong I've liked these albums at moments but I've never had an obsessive listeneing binge to any of them.

I'm a huge fan of Chiastic slide and EP7 these days, as well as some of that era of EPs, so I think I'm making good progress back in time and eventually I will LOVE Incunabula.

Confield. It's growing on me though, albeit very slowly, as in I might actually enjoy it in 5 years. That extended 14-minute version of Uviol on the last autechre.ws radio mix was pretty cool though I must admit. I can kinda get with what they were trying to do on this album, dark/unnerving/etc., although for me Phoenecia's Brownout does this better

Draft for me. I think the tracks themselves are great but the flow of the album just doesn't work for me. I wish it did :(

a whole album? i have to really be in the mood for draft, and i think incunabula is kind of boring, but i think i "get" all their releases.

the gescom minidisc however, i can't really listen to that. it's a cool idea, but not really what i want to listen to. i've only listened to it on random though, haven't made any static playlists. i can imagine the album being really cool, but i can't really focus on that much randomness

Draft. I like some of the individual tracks but it's a hard album for me to sit through.

Draft 7.30 is probably my favorite album overall, I like all of the tracks on it.

Untitled, EP7, and Confield are albums I barely listen to. I don't think they're bad, I just have yet to get into them.

how do you not get garbage? i absolutely loved 3 of those tracks from the first listen, and bronchusseven is pretty good too. not really a difficult ae release imo

Untilted by far, LCC/The Trees is good though.

Untitled was the album it took me longest to "get", but once I did it became one of my favourites

Amber and Tri Repetae. Why are they so popular?

Draft 7.30's beat fuckery (someone on here described it like that, so I'll just re-use it) beats me down and I find it hard to follow. But I love how grimey, dense and dark Draft is. I'm starting to love Theme of Sudden Roundabout onwards. I do wish though that Surripere took another direction. I would like to ask them; who came up with the first 3 minutes and who thought to fuck it up over the remaining 8 minutes. It's just that it lasts so long. Some are going to disagree though I guess. I realise they work on the tracks at the same time. But the first 3 minutes show how enigmatic, dark, and confounding they can be, and the rest how anal they can be. I think they should return to that track and do several alternative versions and release it as an ep. No I'm not being serious but I am in a way cos I'd love that.

I don't really get Quaristice's track order or choice of tracks. It is very bitty so is hard to adjust to. But from fwzE to chenc9 the album really annoys me, even though I like bnc Castl in isolation. By that point in the album it seems just throwaway and irritating to me. [i think] I think WNSN is an amazing track, and I've tried different playlists but it always seems out of place wherever it goes. That too I like more just played on it's own.

i can almost say i like both confield and untilted for they are; but, i don't fucking get it, and i don't fucking get kids pretending to get shit the artist had no intention of explaining. i can't listen to half their shit on my ipod; fucking hurts my ears. its pretentious sound engineering wizardry. they are fucking good, its too bad they're shit at music.
