Honestly my favorite is Hudson's Heeters, but that wasn't out this year. I only listened to a few tracks off of Butter before turning it off in disappointment...

I like just about everything he does, but I haven't heard this yet. His next album of more traditional songs should be pretty lush with all the classical experimentation as of late...

how many other sufjans or devendras are there? also a lot of people here abbreviate aphex twin to just aphex.

take rufus wainwright for example. rufus is a relatively uncommon name but i never see him being referred to by first name alone.
