'bitte orca' took roughly a year to grow on me; trust me, i hate dirty projectors too (especially their videos), but what do you do, the music is great

Wat?

the members of the band are all pretentious fucks, most of their music is shit, but this one album is very good

You know I really think Stephen Wilkinson (Bibio) with Ambivalence Avenue deserves album of the year. Its brilliant flow and blending of many different styles.... while also keeping a consistent quality (most songs could work as singles) is pretty astounding. Steven has captured something that reminds me what good pop music is, which is a style/genre I am finding more and more tiring. To breathe such fresh air into a room full of smug bullshit reminds me of what the Beatles accomplished with Sgt.Pepper.

I'm surprised to not see Luke Vibert's "we hear you" much (or at all)! Certainly not his most amazing album, but it is one of my favs of the year.

I second hat , my son .

Yeah , I don't own the album ( I will own it either this week or next ) But from what I heard...it sounds really , really good .

Man I don't know how so many of you guys can spit out lists of 10, 20+... by my library db I only listened to 47 releases from 09, which I still think is a lot... between listening to my already favorite artists/albums, discovering "old" stuff, and trying to keep tabs on new releases from artists I already like... there aren't enough hours in the day!

That said, stuff I can say I genuinely thought was "great" from the past year

Sa-Ra - Nuclear Evolution

Mos Def - The Ecstatic (easily his best since black on both sides)

Bibio - Ambivalence Ave

Broadcast + Focus Group

Pépé Bradock - Confiote De Bits (remix comp)

These threads are also cool in that they inspire me to go out and explore some musics that are outside my boxxy box or that I've otherwise slept on... so cheers to the lot of ya :cisfor: :cisfor:
