Autechre's EPs have some of their best work, imo.

Cichlisuite always gets overlooked. Even by me, it probably has the least plays in my iTunes library but it has a good handful of extremely solid tracks. Pretty much everything except for Characi is amazing, and Characi is ok too but it takes a good number of listens before it fully makes sense. PENCHA FTW!!!

i know im in the minority, but i absolutely love untilted. i find it to be a nice mix of noisy stuff and just killer beats. the end of augmatic disport, lots of lcc, ipacial, etc. it just really comes together for me as a nice combination of styles of theirs. albums like draft and confield are sometimes too much for me to handle just casually listening. if i really want to get sucked in and focus, there is nothing better. but gimmie the end of augmatic disport for my drive home from work with the windows down in the summer and im good.

I'm with you, I like Untilted quite a bit. Playing it now actually, on the last track 'Sublimit' which is awesome. Confield is quite overwhelming most of the time, Draft 7.30 not so much.

Pro Radii and Iera make Untilted for me. They blow my mind every time, where I think I can't believe two normal guys created them. Iera is so funny and twisted and alien.

I find Draft 7.30 difficult because it beats you down. Untitled is energetic and intense enough that when listened to very loud I can get lost in the detail, whereas with Draft I find it pretty downbeat and exhausting without much relief. I do think it's one of their patchiest albums..

Untitled is very dry, and I can't enjoy it listening through earphones, but it's so enveloping when loud and then in the dark it just comes alive.

Untilted is great, but there's just something missing in it for me that I'm not sure. Although, I can't think of a single song off of it I dislike (though I'm starting to find Fermium to be tedious to listen to). Whenever I listen to Untilted, I listen to LCC, restart it, then go through the entire album and get confused when it ends and things go silent. I also really love Autechre's live stuff around the time right after Untilted's release. LCC percussion with the melodies from The Trees just makes me really happy.

Cichlisuite and EP7 are great Autechre EPs. Cichlisuite is nice, I especially like Pencha. Anvil Vapre, Cavity Job, and Anti are all cool too.

this thread is way behind xltronic's

That's because it's useless...the ones in the Autechre subform are more active and up to date.

For anyone of you that haven't been obsessively checking the Autechre subforum since yesterday, this is now available to download on Bleep, and it is awesome.

I think Joyrex may even like this one.

im tempted to purchase the vinyl now..sounds far better than the leak.

although, is it just me, or is the bassy part on ilanders messin up my speakers?

Mh... i find it rather disappointing. The melodies & harmonics are quite jazz-band in autechre terms & the songs are to similiar to each other... too much high melodies all the time. Anyway seeing them live at berghain in april will be amazing!

 glad to see someone new here learning the lingo so fast

On first listen I'm really loving Oversteps. See on See might be the "prettiest" thing they have done.

I get this weird taking-a-step-backward approach, compared to Quaristice. Not neccessarily chronologically in their style, but stepping back to a safer place. This record feels pretty safe. I get a weird Plaid sensation at times, like at See On See. Treale is just Autechre hip-hop.

p.s. lol to anybody who was psyched about the custom artwork for each track of the mp3 purchase.
