i can't understand how Yuop isn't everybody's favorite track. it certainly is for me.

Because it is not better than treale.

ehh, treale loses its luster pretty quick, when you realize there's barely any variation to the beat. Yuop is a definite fave

Well, I don't get the Yuop love myself. It's certainly a nice finisher, and it's quite cinematic and bombastic sounding and all, but there's not as much to get your teeth into as most other tracks on the album. I think they've done this kind of thing more imaginatively, with better sound design and more interesting goings ons, with the last track of LP5 (Drane2). Though the way the simple staccato melodic notes harmonic swells descend into static/distortion/near chaos at one point is quite lush.

It works - I just don't get why it's considered a best track on the album.

I think it's the obnoxious sound of that main plucking melody that brings it down a notch for me. Thankfully it ends up ripped apart and filtered and distorted by the end, but it's not a very interesting sound or melody.

After many plays formed the following list:

01 St Epreo / Treale / Redfall / R Ess

02 Ilanders / Known(1) / Pt2ph8 / O=0

03 Qplay / See On See / Os Veix 3 / Youp

04 KrYlon / D-Sho Qub

thats comes pretty close to my preferred tunes

see on see hit me this morning

I was kind of getting slowly into a really sunny day and there it was

100% perfect

currently I play it and it has a similar feel

see on see is one that initially, you think you hear everything going on because it's just so... present. and the structure is quite linear, but as i said before this album is all about the rhythms of the arepgs, and there are quite a bit in see on see. the first one that i really began to appreciate was the echo-ish stuff at the beginning. that synth that sounds like it could just be a delayed, distorted version of the main melody but it actually is it's own thing.

my new wow druid is named seeonsea

Oh, I wasn't imaging it then. I was enjoying see on see a lot a few days ago, and I thought I was hearing a few rippling melody things that swam in and out of reverb and weren't just the echoes of the main melodic riff. Then I thought I was imagining them. But evidently I wasn't.

it could be derived somehow from the main line, but if it is they are modulated through whatever magic patches ae are using. it's not just straight delay.

What do you make of the reverb on the bass in the third phase (before the main theme comes back for a final time) in this? The section starts at around 1:55. The bass kind of swells up into this big reverb at times and you can't exactly hear the harmonies being implied. Sometimes I think it's awesome and sometimes it sounds a bit muddy and confusing - often depending on whether you're listening on headphones or speakers...

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

after about 20 listens i think i am finally starting to really understand this album a bit more.

i love how treale, os veix3 and O=0 fit together.

pt2ph8

see on see

Yeah - especially pt2ph8. There's so much detail in the sound modulations in that one. And some very pretty weird harmonics or something.... Anyone know what I mean?

Actually, see on see can be pretty, but seems to have me a headache because of its brightness and the absolutely RIDICULOUS amount of reverb its got smothering everything.

pt2ph8 is much more refined and amazing than see on see.

qplay - this is like their version of a sweet love song, best part is towards the end when it all comes together. easily the best song.

but honestly, not really digging this album. it's better than quaristice only because quaristice is their worst album. the whole album, or much of it, has this light and pretty vibe that can irritate.

Yeah, qplay is definitely the best one on here imo. It's really sweet and emotional, but also hard, what with those intricate, intense drums. I find many of the others have the sweetness of qplay without its intensity or kick (except Ilanders.)
