my sister loves ae. untilted is her favorite... she actually was into the post-lp5 stuff way before me.

I love ae, from the first time I heard them. But I have to admit I was introduced to them by my boyfriend.

when i saw autechre on the confield tour, i'd say about 15% of the audience was female.

i brought my girlfriend at the time to the show & she didn't like it at all. that was her first & last autechre experience.

to be fair tho, i didn't like that concert either.

it took multiple confield tour bootleg listenings before i was all (same as the confield album itself).

now when i saw them on the quaristice tour, i'd say the audience was easily 40% female.

maybe it's them getting more popular or maybe quaristice is just a more girl-friendly album.

would be interesting to see what the crowd is like on this tour if they ever come to the states! :angry:

I made a friend listen to Glasgow 05 and she loved it. And maybe she'll come with me to see the live. It's the first time I see a girl who like Autechre. Also I have a very good friend who is a big Plaid fan... does that count ?

i have a hard choice choosing between that set and pontin's.. if only pontin's was in stereo it would be the winner

since i only have glasgow in 256, it's the clear winner. though i like augmatic disport's accompanying synth from pontins better. the glasgow pro radii just tears my soul apart (if i had one!) and the intro is much better than that silly dance line at the beginnning of hemsby.

i can't emphasize how fucking perfect pro radii is in the context of the glasgow set.

fuck.

though it's kind of stupid to think about since they're both totally different works, i wish oversteps had as many OMGWTFAWESOME moments on it as glasgow.

i was about to smack this kid i work with for being all like "dude there's no singing? it's just instrumental." i was like "ok...." he said that was weird or something.

Yes, annoying. The rubbish mainstream electro dance that's so hot right now is sort of making people more willing to accept lyric-less music, but it's not exactly an improvement either... shows how controllable people's definitions of music are

I've worked in a school for a couple of months (5th-7th grade kids), before I left, I showed the kids a film of ours. It has mostly ambient music as soundtrack, and one kid asked me whether he could put his mp3 player next to the speakers to record the audio. I told him he might not get much as there was no speech and the quality could be quite horrible on the lousy tv's speakers, but he wouldn't mind, so he recorded the whole thing. When listening back to it he was all happy and kept replaying it. Teacher asked him about it he said "yeah I know there's no speech, but the muuuuusiiic ... !!!" and the teacher was like "what you mean, there was no music" ... oh well, I said to him later he should keep listening to whatever he thinks is music and not let everyone tell him anything else. But why do people keep trying ...

hilarious. i bet that experience will stay with him too. maybe he'll grow into a fine musician one day
