didnt heard it yet but thanks for recording it. i always consider autechre live sets a bit like the tangerine dream bootlegs : treasures that deserves to be recorded by all means.

I was a little worried about the venue, which seems to be magnet for turd like Jedward and Clubland Extreme Tour 2009.

When we entered there was a pretty large queue and two knife arches, following by a pat down, which everyone had to pass through. Now, I'm happy to jump through a couple of hoops to ensure the safety within, but two arches were totally insufficient for even this small queue. Once through, you had to queue again to present your ticket to a counter. Instead of the ticket being scanned - your name was checked against a clipboard and ticked off. You were then given another ticket that you had to exchange for a stamp. This whole process took for fucking forever, at least 20mins.

I could go on about how they were pulling pints into plastic cups at the bar, or how the cloakroom was hidden, but to be honest the likelyhood of anyone going back to the venue again is slim. It was just poor all round.

Once in the venue there was some great old school hip-hop, which was rudely interrupted by 15mins of white noise. I didn't enjoy this - I felt the transition from hip-hop to white noise was just too extreme at half 10. However, i then saw a group of asian lads scuttle up the stairs (I assume they paid to get in at the door for a good night) - definately a great 'room cleansing' initiative!.

Rob Hall was mint and Autechre superb. Not much to say really - I have trouble putting Autechre tracks into words. Easy enough to follow and some overstep style sounds in there - that 'crying' track at 48mins seriously messed up my face.

The crowd seemed decent - there was girls and beards and a good mix of age ranges - including a aging guy in full suit atire who just stood there. Absolutely nothing against him, but he definately stood out as being a Times reviewer!

p.s. did I mention the track at 46 - 48-ish mins was insane? :emotawesomepm9:

I can't imagine how it would have sounded live because this recording makes it already awesome.

Thought it was a bit of a shit night to be honest, Rob Hall was great but the venue was just awful

Couldn't really get into Autechre's set, i think that had alot to do with the absolutely WANK sound in there

Hopefully they'll play Glade this year, might be a much better experience in a different venue

Fair play to Soundwave for the MP3, nice work

Many thanks to Soundwave & Mika as I couldn't make it in the end due to the kids being sick.

Nice bonus seeing as I have the day off today. Great work.

good work man cheers, to be honest I'm only just hearing it for the first time as last night(or morning) was too late to give it a full blast and I rendered/uploaded it to waste time whilst the plant fertilizer wore off

have you used multiband compression, a little EQ or both?

I'm hearing subtleties that i didn't notice at the event due to the horrendous acoustics of the horrendous townie venue which meant the PA system (if any good) didn't really shine in there at all plus the place had zero atmosphere due to the open planning (mainly for bouncer surveillance I guess), very high ceiling and very little in the way of sound damping.

Why they didn't use the Music Box again is beyond me as the Quaristice set in there a couple of years ago was everything an Autechre gig should be????

In spite of all this it was still a fresh/different/quality show which Autechre always manage to pull off and it's early days which makes it all the more reason to see the boys in the flesh as what you will hear will have to be an improvement on this.

I also expect more live recordings too

will chat about this later, but one thing that has to be said.

the sound in that place was SHIT. they had funktion ones ok, but whats the fucking point if you cant hear any of the high mids whatsoever. you really had to listen to pick apart anything else from the kick and snare.

wicked night though. got home at 9.

Ironically, this live set sounds more live than those previous. There is less a sense of a flow and more that things are being done there and then - still to decide if this is a good thing.

Example is around the 16 min mark; not a great transition. Would be interesting to hear future recordings (hoping that there will be some) to see if the tour features differing sets, unlike

the Quaristice tour, which was not a bad thing considering that was among and if not the best material Ae have made to date.
