yeah what a waste though - for an extra 20 euro they couldve given it like a basic small 2 octave kiddie keyboard and you'd at least be able to use it functionally like that...

i think they're trying some shit out. if it sells, we'll get monotron II with a keyboard + cv/gate next year for 100 euro. would you have preferred a next-gen radias?

blah blah mopho sux

i wasn't particularly zazzed by the mopho myself... but, poly evolver? prophet 08? yesplz.

watched a video of dave smith talking about prophet 08 design, and i very much got the impression that the guy is 100% with it. mopho is a cheapout compromise cooked up with marketing to pay for the cool shit.

The Korg Monotron is designed to deliver the classic analog sound inexpensively. It is built in a limited control set but at the same time it also provide a consumer styel quality. The monotron fits in your pocket and it is ready to play any time at any place. You can filter any external source using the audio.

my vst's are so old they run on steam.

but seriusly, people should stop bitching about lack of midi/cv, it's a fun little thing and it costs less than a shitty distortion pedal.

Edited by Gocab

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

well. it would be nice if they stuck a little expansion port on there for an a la carte midi or cv port for like another $20 or something. how hard could that be? then I could have a sequenceable analog synth. instead I have a fun toy that I can sample but it's not quite the same.

I'l still buy though. does anyone know when its supposed to actually come out?

Youtube Monotron mods and you will see people have already found a tonne of ways to sequence them. They definitely sound a LOT better with accurate pitch control happening.

I got one last week and I was impressed. The filter sounded a LOT better than a filter in a AAA battery powered toy has any right to. It definitely has more body and grunt than the filters on my "proper" Roland synths.

The LFO is an inverted sawtooth which is good for kick drums and lasers and sirens, but shit for Blade Runner filter sweeps.

Using the LFO depth you can blend in fast modulations to add nice textures.

With the aux in you can still use the LFO to sweep the filter over the external audio and you can still trigger the VCO and play along. 606 + Monotron aux in = fun. Filter "tremolo" in cymbals sounds great.

There's a millions mods you can do to it and it's only a matter of time before people start selling kits.

Mod #1 would be swapping out the op-amp in the output cos the one it ships with is hissy as hell.

Here's a dumb demo I made. You wouldnt make a whole track with one IRL, but you would definitely want to put stuff thru the filter a lot. I'm just trying to show the range of sounds it can do.

Dumb monotron demo

Accurate pitch control (midi) and a quiet output would make it something I would probably use on every track. Waiting for the midi mod kits...

it's working for me, maybe try another browser or something?

hey AW liked the demo, nice one. Don't believe you used the 606 on it though? Would love to hear a sample of that through the monotron :spiteful:
