so these have throughputs..?

would have been easy to sneak a recording device into the speakers' cloth enclosure, o well.

(in Berlin they didn't use monitors at all btw. weird eh?)

sorry, me being a pedant again :p

Art-312-A-back-web.jpg

but yeah, you could hook up something to the speakers

I'm pretty sure Ae have asked for the bass to be so immensely loud to put people off bootlegging this tour. Obviously it hasn't worked and people have still made recordings, but the quality of them isn't brilliant/as good as it has been on other tours.

:emotawesomepm9: I really doubt that ae are using tons of bass to fuck with our recordings; I think it's to have tons of bass

[...] That's definitely bull about the bass being "soaked up". High frequencies will be dampened much more as they travel than low frequencies, but I'm pretty sure Ae have asked for the bass to be so immensely loud to put people off bootlegging this tour. [...]

Cool, nice to know I'm not the one talking/thinking crap. I currently play bass in this Ukrainian band, you see, and this is a taste of the stuff I get there. I think the real reason for them pumping up the bass and then whinging when it occasionally comes out too loud is that my dynamic range is too broad for them to handle ("get your hands off the fucking compressor!"), but it can be like pulling teeth trying to get a straight answer out of some people.

Taping shows with a mic with one thing, but doesn't fucking around with their gear and trying to plug into places not cross a line a bit? I reckon Autechre would be really pissed off if they knew people were trying this on. Is anyone actually considering this?

So with only 9 days to the Dublin show may I suggest checking out the support act anodyne

Here's a link to his Myspace site : http://www.myspace.com/anodyneireland

Today I had the pleasure of hearing a 25 minute preview of his live set and it's sounding like the perfect accompaniment to Autechre :)

Yeah, I agree. If they actively encouraged bootleggers it might be a little different, but they don't seem to do judging by reports of the hard as nails sound engineer and bouncer all-in-one combo. Fiddling about with gear is definitely unacceptable - even if one is involved with the band and the adjustments haven't been agreed (unless absolute trust is invested in the person doing the fiddling) - and the only time I'd say it would be fine to plug in to anything is if a dedicated line-out has been provided for that purpose.

lol people are actually taking that plugging-something-into-the-link-output thing seriously? I really wouldn't advise it, just fiddling with a venue's PA alone will get you kicked out, nevermind actually trying to record off the PA itself. immense lol.

I'd actually quite like to see some fanboy trying, all subtle like, sifting through his pocket of obscure audio cables to find the correct RCA to jack lead he needs, only to be dragged off by the scruff of the neck by some fucking bear of a bouncer, protesting "but I'm from the internet!" as he's hurled through the door. Autechre laughing and sampling it for future use as he goes

This Domino recording is excellent. The sound must have been shite at Bloc then because all I heard were enormous beats, none of this synthy detail like in the recording.

What a relief, I was hating for Oversteps tour for a while.

Awesome article. Personally it sums up everything I like about Autechre, and not surprisingly, what really interests me in artmaking these days..

  Quote
this is ‘experiential’ art; that which encourages the listener to learn about aspects of their own perception - thereby grasping at basic truths about how they relate to the external world - through exploration of the artwork concerned rather than a fruitless (in Noë’s view) process of internal reflection. As Noë puts it, "The work of some artists can teach us about perceptual consciousness by furnishing us with the opportunity to have a special kind of reflective experience. In this way, art can be a tool for phenomenological investigation."

Wait... how do we know that Tankakern = Sean?

No, i'm not, but i know he visits this board. After soundboards being taken of the previous tours, they've really, really cracked down. I just don't think connecting wires into the back of the pa system is going to work. It's a shame really, the Quaristice tour, the secret gig they did around the release of Draft and prior to that other secrets gigs in and around mcr, all possibly lost and not to be surfaced in the future.
