squarepusher IDM Island

Some of the most prominent figures in the IDM music scene are stranded on an island and are forced to fend for themselves.

The inhabitants are as follows:

1. Richard D. James (Aphex Twin)

2. Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher)

3. Rob Brown and Sean Booth (Autechre)

The island is plentiful in coconuts which, while not providing enough nutrition to sustain a person indefinitely, will be sufficient to live off of for several months. It will be difficult to find any other means of nutrition, though there have been sightings of rodents and other small mammals on the island. There is little to no fresh water and drinking sea water will be fatal, it should be a priority for the group to find a reliable source of water. As of now, each inhabitant of the island is on good terms with one another, but there is no guarantee this will be the case when rational thought is put aside and desperation sets in. The is not a single MIDI controller or computer on the entire island, just a single TB-303 who each inhabitant will claim it is their own, but without any electricity to power it, it is without much use.

Who will live and who will die?

They all will die. From murder.

Richard D. James will declare himself as group leader and say that he is his own favorite islander. Everything he does on the island is for himself and for no one else!

Rob & Sean will find innovative ways of using found materials to build elaborate structures for shelter, as well as new ways of preparing the coconuts and giving them a geometric presentation.

Tom will abandon the group and forage for himself, as he prefers his own little hermetic process.

Eventually RDJ kills Tom for his water, because he knows that Ae are still putting out quality records and Tom is now a washed up, balding jazz musician who uses too many 1994 rave stabs.

They soon discover that Boards of Canada have been living on the island for sometime, and they are in no hurry to leave. Turns out they fancied it a beautiful place out in the country.

Things really heat up when we find out that RDJ and Sean Booth both NEED the 303 at all times in order to function. Sean accidentally snaps off the accent knob during a furious acoustic tweak session, and RDJ loses his shit! They end up fighting to the death!!! RDJ and Sean deliver simultaneous deadly blows to each others groin and they both fall to the ground. Rob kills himself shortly after, because what good is a 303 you can't plug in without a Accent knob?

A sad day for IDM, indeed.
