This album really isn't that bad (though it's tiring if you try to sit through the entire thing, that's for sure). There are songs that I find myself wanting to listen to throughout the day - Footwurk Homicide is a fun fucking track, and it makes me want to figure this shit out (and according to Nate, promptly get murdered. DEPINTHECIRC).

Also -- Is anyone here interested in trying their hand at some juke tracks? I'd like to see what the folks here can come up with (and in case anyone is thinking of half-assing it in an attempt to be ironic: put a scarf in it, douchebag)

There was a lot of this getting dropped up at the place I spent new year's, by me and others. It went off, basically.

We had a couple of professional dancers there so they were loving it, and putting on a free show for us peons.

I guess I could have played Tuss, Ceephax and Clark, but you know what? It was New Years 2010, not New Years 2005.

haha !! now you mention it, i don't know anymore. It started off as a rail against nate, but the other way looks just as appealing. ;-]

for the record, i've only heard a couple of things by this artist. And they are all that i am basing my groanination on. So who knows, my spider sense may be completely off and this kid could be the next messiah. Problem with messiahs though, is that they have both disciples, and romans waiting to crucify them. Being a citizen of the pre-existing empire, i think that i probably identify with the romans in this case. And even if the lad does get smoked by us, but then somehow mysteriously returns, more powerful than before, my empire can just co-opt his message, change our name to the holy watmm empire, and carry on as before.

now im listening dj nates album DA TRAK GENIOUS and the tuitles proabbly pretty close to true dj nate is great. eveyrone talks always about the "hits" of dj nate (which are good also) ga ga lord rest in peace and haters our motivation , etc. but there are many other great tracks inside this album. u aint workin wit nuthin for example is super cool and 3 peats pretty amazon, and the sample of footwerk homicide is

I really tried to express how bad this stuff was to Mike, constructively. I mean I don't want to see Planet µ make a wrong turn like this. He just thought I personally didn't like it, and I had to agree, I can't tolerate it....because it's so bad. It's not just me is it? It's not that I "don't get it". What I get is that it's bad. I couldn't care about the culture or the scene that's around it. The music alone is bad art.

It'd be easy to say the same thing about 90% of punk, or house, especially if you stick with the position "I couldn't care less about the culture or scene that's around it."

OK... I'm gonna chime in a little. I listened to the above track that sup posted. It's not bad... the only thing that is turning me off about it is the constant looping of the vocal samples. Is this the criteria for producing a juke track? because most I've heard is like that.

and that footwork dancing! I don't really want to diss it since I remember the beginnings of break dancing and how cool I thought it was. But there is no fluid motions at all in that dance... just movement of the legs all stuttery and sloppy. Krunk and jerkin' even have more of a fluid motion than that!

I'll leave it at that. Some tracks OK... Too much vocal looping distracting me... stupid dance!

I guess this is more veered to a younger crowd since my 14 year old nephew knows about this.

Eh, not really a fan of Nate, although the tune sup posted was pretty good. The collab between DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn is pretty legit. Headhunter is also doing some interesting things under his Addison Groove moniker too.

Just been listening to a DJ Rashad Rinse FM podcast - it got a bit too much after 15 minutes. Similar complaints to other people in that there are too many annoying / repetitive short vocal snippets trying to cover up the annoying beat structures littered behind them.

Ive tried a few times to enjoy this sound, I really have, but its been a year now since this thread was started and the sound hasnt progressed or got any better.
