Berbatov won't change his style

This was back in September 2010 but:

  Quote

- Berbatov scored 27 league goals in 70 appearances for Spurs, prompting the £30m transfer fee. After being widely criticised by sections of United fans, the media and rival fans, Berbatov has scored 27 league goals in 69 appearances for United.

- Berbatov has collected 18 assists in those 69 appearances, giving a total of 45 goals scored or created, an average of 0.7 per game.

- In Wayne Rooney’s first 69 appearances for the club, he scored 24 goals. He also provided 13 assists, giving a total of 37 goals scored or created, an average of 0.5 per game.

- Rooney has scored 92 goals in 192 appearances for United and created 51 assists, giving a total of 143 scored or created, an average of 0.7 per game.

- Berbatov created an average of 2.2 goalscoring opportunities per 90 minutes in the Premiership in 09/10, more than any striker in the league.

- Berbatov has scored more league goals after 5 games in 2010/2011 Carlos Tevez did all season in 2008/2009.

- Berbatov is the first United player in 64 years to score a hattrick against Liverpool. He’s the first United player in 82 years to score a hattrick against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

- Fernando Torres has scored 57 goals in 84 games for Liverpool. He has picked up 11 assists in that time, taking the total number of goals scored or created to 68, an average of 0.8 per game.

Judge him as a striker.

Worth every penny for this bit of skill alone

as for international records look at some of the goals Robinho's scored - Hong Kong, Canada, Zimbabwe, Tanzania...

Mirezzi - the special one has been suggested before, but there's no sign of Ferguson retiring any time soon. Mourinho would be alright, but he would have to tone down the rhetoric.

I remembered that Chelsea had won the first leg much more than they did, so an upset is possible. I remember Benfica being shit the last game.

My only issue with Berbatov is that he isn't a consistent performer, he'll have a great game in every 3 he plays (often scoring a brace or hat-trick), which means he has excellent stats but he can be very frustrating. Rooney is more consistent, and that's better for Welbeck and Hernandez who need a number 10/trequistra alongside them. When Berbatov is on form then he's great at linking up with his strike partner but more often it doesn't seem to click.

Shame Berbatov looks likely to leave the PL, he's a fantastic player.

The fitness of Germany/German teams is staggering, the pressing and workrate tonight by Bayern was fantastic. Madrid couldn't cope for large periods of the game (although it was obvious they had half an eye on Saturdays match). All set up for a great game next week.

Didn´t watch the match. Was it a deserved win? Wouldn´t mind Barca-Real in the final, but it would be nice to avoid all the moaning and complaining from Mourinho before and after the match.

Yes I'd say it was deserved, Bayern created better chances and defended well.

Also, I'd really like a Bayern vs Barca final.

I liked the disgust on Mourinho's face after Bayern scored the winner. Good game and it was all Bayern after Özil got subbed.

Great game, i'm happy for Bayern (i would love to see them in the final and win it but i want to see a competitive final). I think people should not overreact, good result for Bayern no doubt about it but Madrid only need one goal to get to the finals. Jose and Co have "El Clasico" in their minds, they weren't really focus on this game once they got the goal they were pretty happy.

Fábregas recalls Arsenal games against Chelsea always following the same script: "We would dominate the ball, keep possession, create chances and then," he says, pausing for effect, "… a counter-attack, [Didier] Drogba, goal! They have a super-fast counter-attack and it was a film that we saw again and again.

Cesc called it. Chelsea produced it.

chelsea 1:0 barca. (catenaccio-style)

i love that result, means that with a bit of luck we can see bayern-chelsea final and bayern can get cl-winner.

i dont think that bayern would win vs. barca, though.

I don't want that cunt Drogba anywhere near a champions league final.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Drogba outdid Busquets with the theatricals, but when he stayed on his feet he was absolutely immense, lead the line so well. His theatrics disrupted and agitated Barca too.

Also, massive respect for John Terry - not a fan particularly but he was incredible tonight. Played high up and tight at the start, and then dropped back in the second half and let Barca play in front of him. Such a good performance, Cahill was strong too and I really like Ramires.

I don't condoned diving, but watching Drogba outdived Busquets was excellent. I expect Chelsea to park the bus at Barcelona Murhinio style.

Yeah, they'll have exactly the same gameplan (contain, stifle and maybe counterattack), but it'll be much more difficult because the Nou Camp pitch is much bigger. Alves, Iniesta and Pedro were all relatively useless when in wide-positions at Stamford Bridge, but they'll have space to exploit in the second leg.

It'll be a mammoth task, but Chelsea are in a good position. They could even nick a goal at Nou Camp (if Barca lose their focus pursuing an equaliser) and things will get very interesting.

If Chelsea reach the final it would mean they only reach the final if they have a caretaker manager.

Yeah, and Barca have Madrid at the weekend, if they lose thats good bye to the league meaning they have to reach the final to save their season. If Chelsea park the bus Barca could lose their shit. Murhinio did it a two season ago, its possible.
