You misunderstand - I know that beds move spawn points.

What I mean is: At the moment the spawn point for new players entering a multiplayer server keeps moving. (Also the spawn point for dead players without beds). Its annoying because it makes it hard to get a bunch of people onto a multiplayer server and have them in the same place. Also it means you can't create a nice 'intro' area because new players spawn randomly 1000s of blocks away from where you put the 'welcome' sign.

Yes, Notch is a cocksucker. Clearly he was inspired by "the nothing." We've got some sort of floating sludge that changes the water color, and when it touches land, it spreads and kills all vegetation.

i don't know if it can spread under the surface layer of water...assuming that it only spreads on the surface layer (like grass) i propose we try to contain it like an oil spill by making paths out of cobble through the ocean...ugly but it might work.

I'd still like Kaini, Pete, or someone who reads minecraft info to explain this...

i've noticed that too but just thot that it was "deep water" . i think it looks nice... never put the brown/gray grass together with it tho.

I assumed it was just swamp water or some other biome

i think i know what's up. you have a mushroom biome near venice somewhere. the water is just a side-effect - different biomes have different water colours (i.e. swamp water is green). but, mushroom biomes can grow - mycelium can convert grass into more mycelium. so there's a mushroom biome near venice which someone has discovered, and it's spreading.

there are only two mushroom biomes discovered on the map - one at 295/5600, and one at 5594/2254. couch was doing some exploring at the second one yesterday, and maybe that set it off - are you near there?

as for what to do about it, try isolating the mycelium blocks? they shouldn't be able to spread over water.

edit: ok, i can see that the blocks are isolated from the biome by water already. that's weird. yeah, it's probably spreading under water.

This biome is weird as shit.

There is a clear border between the pre-1.0 biomes and the new ones. It looks like a massive chunk error along the edges. Mountains are cut perfectly down the middle. There's a ravine cut in half by an ocean. But the water doesn't flow down into it, the edge of the water is completely vertical.

The stuff in your screenie Lump is looks like swamp biome grass. That's not the mycelium or whatever. Some of the biome transitions are just...crap.

like i said to you, that weird chunk error shit is an awesome build waiting to happen

and yeah i'd like to see the biome logic tweaked. having a snowy biome next to a desert... wtf
