Christ, did pho make it onto the most idm list?

I'm usually a huge fan of all the food threads here and now I'm ashamed that I have never had pho. I need to find somewhere around here...

Unless it's Pho Ga :emotawesomepm9:

This statement is mostly true. I've had Pho Ga before that has chicken in it, but still has beef stock, and I've had chicken pho before with chicken stock.

The only reason why I'm aware of this is my dad doesn't eat meat for whatever reason, so we have to make mental notes about which pho places have an all chicken broth.

On a side note, the pho place closest to me uses both chicken and beef stock to make their broth.

So I checked out this place that is a 20 second walk from my house. The Saigon Cafe, it's been open only about a month or so. Ordered the beef Pho, crab rangoon, and Thai bubble tea. We sat at the counter which is situated directly in front of the kitchen. We watched as all of our food was freshly prepared; the crab rangoon was hand-rolled in front of me before being fried, the noodles freshly cooked and the tea made. It was really outstanding. Everything was delicious. My gf got something called "something" Nuong, don't remember exactly. Thin rice noodles with grilled chicken, vegatables like carrots, sprouts, and herbs all covered in a delicious peanut sauce. It was almost like a salad. I'll definitely be frequenting this place, especially since I can get there so quickly, and it was freaking AMAZON!

My first Pho experience gets a big :sup:

Thanks WATMM!

edit: totally forgot to take any pictures though becuase the lady that took our order was very nice and talking to us most of the time while we waited. She would also walk up to customers eating and offer to show them the "proper" way to eat it, adding Hoisin and Sriracha :w00t:

I make mine somewhat unconventionally because I include daikon and napa cabbage in the pho too. I flavor the broth with a few thick slices of ginger and a large quartered onion, both need to be toasted first, a fresh chicken, the bones of two chicken carcasses, and fish sauce. Bring everything to a boil and then simmer until the chicken is cooked, remove the chicken and shred the meat. Ladle the broth over rice noodles, top with chicken meat, lime juice, chopped cilantro, fried shallots and a fried egg.

I pity the pho who doesn't like pho, and also "pho no!!"

I actually think it's just okay, not the greatest thing in the world, but I'll dabble in it occasionally. This thread makes me want to really like it, and I'll probably grab some next time I'm downtown with the intent to eat.

got introduced to pho recently, reminded me of this thread.

It was fucking delicious, now on the look-out for more pho-places over berlin... the last one we ordered delivered dry-pho. It had all the right ingredients, but no soup
