The Flashbulb

It occasionally happens that users - somewhat similar to what you did - sign up just to open a topic and say "Fuck all of you for hating on my Flashbulb", and that doesn't really add to the man's fame, at least not in the way desired by his fans ... Makes it look like most of his fans think he needs defending. He may or may not be good at what he does, fact is that making fun of him and especially his fans is pretty hilarious as they have a tendency to get really worked up about it for some odd reason ...

Besides, there's a bunch of Flashbulb topics actually, each of which provided some good entertainment.

Flashblub is trying too hard to emulate Squarepusher. It's quite apparent in the track in the OP. While technically proficient he lacks soul in his music. And when he makes these emo type albums it just comes out as insincere and calculated to cater to the teen-hipster crowd that is just discovering electronic music.

he might be influenced by him but The Flashbulb sounds NOTHING like squarepusher. He is still one of rare IDM artists that plays guitar on his tracks and pulls it off so good.

Still I couldn't care less what u guys think of him YOU will never make tracks as good ... and yes you can put as many of these as you want, but Aphex twin and the flashbulb are two totally different styles

That other track you just posted is totally riffing of Squarpusher, only he replaced the bass with a guitar, but he still has those swelling synth melodies that SQP has used since the start. Do something original mr. Jordan, you have the chops but instead keep churning out derivative pap.

i think a lot of hate for Benn is ridiculous, but the blind hero worship as if he is a trailblazer is just as ridiculous.

if you enjoy the music, enjoy it, and say you do. but once you start proclaiming that he's one of the greatest musicians that ever lived, and we can never make a track as good as him, expect to get some negative feedback.

I have no bias either way. But I would like to add that I agree with the point of some of his stuff lacking soul.

He has extremely good technical skill, but thats not what Im looking for in an artist. Production is amazing, but everything is way to calculated. Benn could be a robot for all I know.

How can you people call his music souless and empty and not unique? I'd call him one of the very few really good idm artists out there.

There's a description of him on the internet somehow that goes: The Flashbulb is the Nickelback of idm. I tried to listen to Soundtrack to a Vacant Life but it felt endless so I gave up. He's not an artist. He shows the emotional depth of an art student.

How can someone like both The Flashbulb and Venetian Snares? Madness ! Venetian Snares is like the antithesis of The Flashbulb because he never goes for anything that's easy or sentimental. In Bezitny he sort of descends into the pits of hell, twisting and turning and finding his way through, like he's exploring, and you wonder where's it's going and then when the melody hits with the female's voice it's genuinely heartbreaking and feels earned. I can't stand contemplative sentimental music personally ! And Venetian Snares' P is a fantastic ambient track of genuine originality and beauty but it's by him so everyone ignores it.

most of it is. he has some excellent moments.

i have three of his albums, and i bought them out of love for the one or two tracks that i legitimately enjoyed. i didnt feel any emotional connection to the rest of the albums....a lot of it felt forced...the few tracks i do like I think are genuine awesomeness.

im not going to agree that he mixes guitars and IDM better than anyone else...because I think thats generalizing to an incredible degree.
