The only thing that I didn't like was at one point he did a cover of Rhubarb. He played the chords on his guitar, looped it, and then threw in some ridiculously boring repetative dance beat over the whole thing. It was one of the worst things I've ever heard. Fucking awful.

 

I really wanna hate him, I do. He just presents himself as a stereotypical Chicago douchebag, and a good chunk of his music is terrible and/or a complete Squarepusher ripoff. But then there's tracks like Lucid Bass I that are just too awesome to deny.

Benn Jordan waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were haters in the drum and base arena.

He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel harky were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.

Benn was a techno musicians for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the aphex tiwns and he said to dad "I want to make IDM daddy."

Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY HATERS"

There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped.

But now in the drum and base arena he knew there were HATERS.

"This is harky" the radio crackered. "You must fight the HATERS!"

So Benn gotted his snare rushes and blew up the wall.

"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the HATERS

"I will shoot at him" said the LUDD and he fired the rocket missiles.

Benn plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up.

But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.

"No! I must kill the HATERS" he shouted

The radio said "No, Benn. You are the HATERS"

And then Benn was a zombie.

LOL I wanted to see if there was any vids of him starting off looping guitar on rhubarb and adding the beat after the fact. Looked on youtube and this is the first vid that the thumbnail looked like you would be able to see what he is doing.

what have you ever done that makes you any better? come off your pedestal. this sort of attitude is not healthy for art or the human race entirely for that matter. the man is just making music he loves, he's not claiming to be anything more than that. if he had some huge kanye west ego i could imagine some people not taking kindly to that, but the guy isn't that bad. i can take some debate back and forth between fans and people that don't enjoy it, but this deep hatred for a person you've never met is just sad.

Way tooo stoned to point out the obvious in detail right now. I will come back here tomorrow and completely explain my reasoning for being able to be completely honest with my criticism of another "artist" in my chosen field in life.

This post pretty much makes you sound like a bigger asshole than I could imagine Benn to be considering I don't fucking know him at all.

Look I'm criticizing a musician who as many of said has made a lot money doing what I am judging. Not even trying to judge him as a person. His music, his stage presence, his "artwork" is a different story and I have the complete right to and don't feel bad about being honest with what I have experienced.

I personally would rather have someone be an asshole that makes heartfelt music rather a nice guy poseur who is trying way too hard making water down uninspired shit personally.

Really not worried about if people are assholes just as long as they are raw, honest & real. I don't like idiots, I don't like liars, I don't like douche bags but I don't have a problem with honest assholes.

Benn's always been a nice cat as far as i could tell, never had it out for anybody and worked hard. Good on him for his attention to details, whatever that means. Good on him for being a pleb like you and making it in the last decade. I never listen to it cause my tastes diverge and it doesn't speak to me, but at least he's educating the minor masses nao, with beats and electronic eats.

lol, I'm not "pissed" I just honestly cringe when I listen to most of his music and for instance when I watch the video above. Like I said earlier I randomly saw him a few years ago & had no idea who it was up there in basically completely anonymous experience with no preconceived notions of the performer and I hated it. I absolutely have the right to be completely honest and state when I really don't like something when I understand the medium just as much as I have the right to say I deeply enjoy something.

I'm not jumping on the Flashbulb hate train I honestly just agree with all the criticisms and genuinely don't like him as an "artist". He is not some kid in YLC patiently honing his craft, he is an established act that apparently has already made a lot of money. My words aren't going to destroy the potential of a unrefined diamond jewel.

Of course you have a right to express your opinion about a musical artist, as this does appear to be half the purpose of this site. I just feel that the course of this thread has runs it's. There's no need to go on and on about it.

And in a few months, we'll see another of these threads and you can relive all your magic points all over again in that one. (haha sorry, i'm having too much fun being all schoolmasterly here, loe'ell)

I don't even understand how the same guy that made the Acidwolf album could make something as out of touch as "Undiscovered Colors"... I'm glad I didn't find out who Acidwolf actually was until after I got into the album.

Acidwolf and Human Action Network are the best things he did imo, for some reason almost all of his tracks as The Flashbulb are all 2min long. Been listening to That Missing Week EP and the two first tracks sound like Ultravisitor jr, one thing I really don't like is that all the glitchery in his tracks sound very dblue_glitch'ish which makes the whole thing sound very cheap.
