but yeah I saw the flahbulb at a super tiny festival here at 3am right when I got there (mostly to hang with my girlfriend, expecting only super bad techno) and I HAD NO IDEA WHO I WAS WATCHING. I was at first really stoked that wow this isn't 4 on the floor boring techno trance crap thinking oh this is IDM weird... my excitement ended within like about 45 seconds of seeing what appeared to me as a soulless twat noodling on the guitar to some really uninspired squeeky clean walmart IDM... this was honestly my first impression major disappointment without knowing who it was.

i used to liek the flashbulb. then it became a guilty pleasure. now it's just really really bad stuff i can't even listen to.

I just saw Flashbulb live a couple nights ago. It's was alright, really terrible crowd though. But what can you expect form an IDM show in downtown Minneapolis?

The only thing that I didn't like was at one point he did a cover of Rhubarb. He played the chords on his guitar, looped it, and then threw in some ridiculously boring repetative dance beat over the whole thing. It was one of the worst things I've ever heard. Fucking awful.

I really wanna hate him, I do. He just presents himself as a stereotypical Chicago douchebag, and a good chunk of his music is terrible and/or a complete Squarepusher ripoff. But then there's tracks like Lucid Bass I that are just too awesome to deny.
