His acid shit is best, but his normal Flashbulb releases seem a bit pretentious, at times. Usually one good track per album. Always seems to try to hard if you ask me.

Never the less, in the 50+ albums he's released, there are about 15-20 good tracks :)

i dont hate on the flashbulb like everyone else, but i dont listen to it that much, what i did hear 5 or 6 years ago when i checked him out, reminded me of the musical interludes you hear on NPR or in commercials. obviously put together by someone who is musically educated and knows what they're doing, and i can understand why people would be attracted to it, similarly to how i can understand people are attracted to commercials.

He has his moments. I usually give his albums a listen and purchase my favorite track off of it. But I do generally believe he tries too hard. I want the sound to be more raw & to invoke some kind of emotion, but what I get is a very precise, cold sounding studio album usually.

Generally, I feel he over edits. His music, for the most part, doesn't sound like it comes naturally. To much editing, like in a bad martial arts film.

I don't even understand how the same guy that made the Acidwolf album could make something as out of touch as "Undiscovered Colors"... I'm glad I didn't find out who Acidwolf actually was until after I got into the album.

That is some of the worst "acid" i have ever heard. If that post was meant to exemplify how good Acidwolf supposedly is then wow

9.85 out of 10 falshbub tunes i've heard have been awful

I quite like one track off of flexing habitual

Best post award goes to Lube Saibot for his "jah bless, danknugz, you fucking white rasta wigger moron" post.

Like The Face Culler I also don't understand how the same person can make such great tracks then do some of the most pretentious and derivative tracks out there.

Acid Church is TERRIBLE... not sure if sarcastic or... W/e

Binedump (Acidwolf Mix) is a good jam & also mixes in from the regular Flashbulb Binedump track (off Kirlian Selection):

Eating Angelic Diamonds is great:

Your Right to Leave also pretty good:

Actually i take it back about flexing habitual. i just youtubed it to hear the track i liked and realised it wasn't what i was thinking of. the track i was playing in my mind and thinking was 9 acid strings or whatever was actually 23:23 by watmmer Zephyr Nova.

And once again, that Acid Church track up there^^^ is fucking dreadful.

I thought it was a good counterexample to your typical humorless glitchy flashbulb track that everybody complains about. I don't see why it's so much worse than say some classic Ceephax:

is this more to your liking?

that acidwolf sounds like if someone who made library music for PS3 games tried their hand at an acid track, nothing wrong with that exactly but part of the reason why certain acid sounds so good its because of its rawness. This is completely missing in acidwolf

Man... Ceephax is an Acid King IMO... Probably why he has track names like Camelot Jostle & Fossil, Castillian. He is self-aware.

Anyway, I believe that's probably why I enjoy the Flashbulb's acid work more than his typical glitch work. Acid Church is just damn annoying to me personally... But I rather like Withered Sum, Valley Shuffle, Binedump, & S. Kedzie off that album. Think I quite prefer Welcome to Chicago though.

@Awepittance: Yep, think you hit it right on the money. I believe it goes back to that over editing , studio sound I was referring to. Ceephax openly speaks about his tracks taking a few days to a couple of weeks to create, cause after that they lose a bit of that "in the moment" creative magic.

I understand what you're saying, but PS3 stock musician sounds really harsh.

Maybe I just see more humanity and goofiness in the album because I have fond memories of listening to it back when it came out, blissfully unaware of who made it.

2005 seems like forever ago...

lol, some serious hate :D

I was in Chicago recently... was sad cause I missed him touring with Ceephax by about a week. That was probably my best chance of being close to a Jenkinson :(

I met Tom Jenkinson and Luke Vibert in new york about years back. Pretty uneventful. They didn't seem interested in chatting. Fantastic show nonetheless. i have a feeling Andy would be much more interesting.
