Now Drinking thread

As some WATMMers will know, I like a drink. I also like to try new drinks, and make them at home as a hobby. So I've decided to start a thread where you can discuss what booze you're drinking, maybe pass comment on it, and share and discuss your favourite drinks and recipes.

 

Are you drinking a particularly nice craft beer? Why not tell us about it.

Are you "in the know" about a certain cheap but delicious bottle of wine available from a major UK supermarket? By all means, share the wealth.

Do you have a completely killer hangover cure that makes all the pain go away? Enquiring minds must know.

 

Right now, I'm having a Bloody Mary. Sunday means hangover means Bloody Mary. But this one's a little different than usual. It's made with vodka, tomato juice, salt, pepper, tobasco and Worcestershire sauce as usual... but I've also added half a teaspoon of this stuff to it:

Tastes great. I also used some to coat the rim of the Collins glass I'm drinking out of. I'm so into that. Try it in your next Mary!

Currently drinking green tea, but last night I was drinking whiskey and ginger ale. I've had a cold for almost two weeks, and after the first week I said fuck it and went out. Whiskey is usually the only thing that doesn't make me more sick after drinking it.

 

I'm also brewing beer with my roommate now. We have an IPA and a porter that will be ready early March. I think we're going to start an amber ale soon, too. We're trying to time it so we constantly have beer coming out.

i'm drinking a shit bottle of spanish red called evodia. can't wait till i'm done with it.

 

no lemon or lime juice in your bloody, iain? what about horseradish? bouillon is a good move i suspect. i put beef stock in mine sometimes. and celery salt / kosher salt blend on the rim. and a stick of bacon on special days. i've been experimenting with different things... like chopped green onion (good taste, bad texture obviously to have a hunk of onion when you take a swig) ... going to dry to asianate it one day with sriracha and maybe some yuzu and soy and thai basil. i'm always looking for good tips on a bloody mary. trying to perfect it.

i've been drinking a whole lot of rogers lately. one of my favourite australian beers, and really refreshing in summer:

i'm a bit over boutique beers for the most part. though every now and then i'll spend a little extra on something nice. mostly local stuff, i burned myself out on german/belgian beers a while ago (except for erdinger hefeweizer, yuhuh that shit is awesome).
