Some sake can be quite nice. I actually like the chilled, unfiltered type myself. Sho Chiku Bai Nigori is what they serve at one of my favorite joints.

I had it hot like four years ago, but I didn't much like it at the time. I'm willing to give it another shot, though.

is sake really worth getting in to? i tried some once, but it was a disgusting cheapo one that came in a carton with a little straw. hated that.

It's definitely an acquired taste.. took me about 2-3 years of drinking it to really appreciate it. My girlfriends brother is majorly into Japanese culture, actually he even looks Japanese for a Chinese dude, but anyways; he introduced me to all these fancy shmancy sake liquors. Anyways, the one I posted is sort of a cheap one.

i was drinking with magda once(namedrop motherfucker) and she was drinking extremely expensive sake that was probably the nicest drink ive ever had. it also got me absolutely trolleyed extremely quickly.

it is just delicious. I love it stirred in a shaker with and ice and poured it over 2 slices of cucumber in a martini glass. sometimes i throw a pepperocini pepper in the martini too.

oh, nice. i really need to get into martini experimentation

it's good gin but i prefer plymouth myself. actually i've been drinking pink gin a lot lately which is just gin with a few dashes of angostura bitters. put the bitters in a martini glass, swirl it around the sides, then add very cold gin. bitters are also pretty nice thrown into a G+T. bitters!

never had Plymouth but I do have bitters for when I get on jim beam manhattan kicks.

edit: yea that chocolate stout is tasty

i've got to admit i'm not one for beer cocktails, but lately i've been really enjoying American whiskeys. have you had the Jim Beam rye? it's the one with the yellow label. so sweet and smooth. i haven't tried any other ryes yet but i've been enjoying a few bourbons - bulleit, wild turkey, maker's mark.

any other lovely American whiskeys i should taste? particularly ryes?

how much does bourbon go for in the u.k.? i usually drink evan williams bourbon. it is very cheap and a relatively good bourbon, about 11$ a magnum where i live. really i don't think it gets much better than maker's mark, but wild turkey 101 is defiantly my go too when i got's enough bills to afford it.

P.S. never had beam rye

P.S.S. bourbon = the best
