Labor problems

On May 16, 2008, a pregnant, 17 year-old migrant worker named Maria Isabel Vasquez Jimenez collapsed and later died while pruning vines at a vineyard east of Stockton, CA owned by West Coast Grape Farming, a division of Bronco Wines. According to witnesses, foremen did nothing to aid Vasquez Jimenez until at least five minutes after she collapsed. Vasquez Jimenez and her fellow laborers were allowed only one water break per day, with each work day lasting at least ten hours.[3]

Additionally, the only water source provided for Vasquez Jimenez and her fellow workers was a 10-minute walk away in temperatures that topped 95 degrees. Employers who are found to have willfully violated heat laws can be fined a maximum of $25,000. The United Farm Workers Union is protesting Vasquez Jimenez's treatment as an "egregious" violation of Cal-OSHA safety regulations.[4]

-from wikipedia entry on 'Bronco Wine Company'

cheapest bottle of wine in canada is at least $10, and that is for swill most of the time.

why the water?

i like my vodka neat with a touch of water. just something i've come to find. I don't like to mix my booze (with anything substantial) unless all i want is a massive drunk ASAP/.

also i kiboshed the kebab, got a wicked pad thai from a nice little place nearby and some sunflower seeds to snack on. Go Thursday!

if I'm drinking vodka i like it ice cold vodka right out of a shaker and with a squeeze of fresh grapefruit. it's delicious. I've never tried putting water in any of my drinks, although I'm nit a scotch man and I adore the taste of gin.

(which I am grateful for, really; it was very nice and works well in cocktails but why am I drinking this neat?)

Red label is good value for the money, it's not terribly offensive neat.

It's not horrible, I'm just coming off a bottle of good single malt and the red label tastes so harsh and young in comparison.
