fuckin Icehouse ... smells like bilgewater

(this was last night, not at 10:30 on a Sunday morning ... )

edit: Although I did have a couple sips of Guinness alongside a small piece of chocolate-covered bacon that my lovely lady brought me home from a farm expo, and that was a wonderful pairing!

I love the Talkisker! Right now I'm enjoying an early afternoon double of the Lagavulin 16 and maybe a little later a few bottles of Ice Fog IPA.

Just polished off a bottle of this.. seem to be on a bourbon kick these days.

Finally picked up a bottle of this on the way home from work tonight. Just sipping my first glass now. It's really smooth for a high-proof bourbon, more fruity and less peppery than Wild Turkey. Still a great spicy whiskey.

Can you guys recommend a dry bourbon to me? I had one that a friend brought back from Kentucky years ago that I loved. When I then tried Makers Mark, Knob Creek, Wordford Reserve etc. it was too sweet for my taste.

most bourbon is pretty sweet as far as whiskey goes... that's just the nature of distilled corn. but if you're looking for bourbon with more of a kick, what you want is one with a high rye content too - like this Fighting Cock, or a Wild Turkey. you might like Bulleit - i don't really care for it myself, but it is quite a dry, rye-heavy drop. you could even try a straight rye whiskey. Jim Beam Rye (yellow label) is very good and well-priced, too.

Yeah -- still kinda sweet, but Buffalo Trace is really nice, if you can get it, especially their higher-end 'Eagle Rare' potable!

Lots of Grolsch and Lowenbrau, which ran out. So now I'm drinking some nice cheap Budweiser. 36 355ml cans for $40? I'll take it!!!

it was a good drink - but having half the bottle on a work night probably wasn't a great idea.

At least IME it takes a lot to really get a serious hangover from this stuff. Thursday night debauchery==hazy, lazy Friday.

yeah, it was a pretty smooth ride actually. i kept waiting for a serious hangover but it never arrived. had a glass of wine at lunchtime and all is most definitely well. girlfriend's got a bottle of Jim Beam in for tonight so I'll be drinking that shortly - but I'll make room for a post-work mouthful of Cock.

Tonight Matthew, I shall be drinking.....

Pretty good actually. An extra zing erradicating the need for slices of fruit to be added.

:doge: Jet fuel can't melt dank memes :doge:

I don't think I'll try that. Actually the other day I was playing poker round a friend's house and she got out this half drunk bottle of Plymouth. She then got out a half drunk bottle of tonic. Apparently I took them round for a party fucking yonks ago and they've been sitting there ever since.

Ever tried gin and flat tonic? Don't bother trying cause it's as much of an abomination as really weak squash.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be exploring as soon I can!
