after 3 plays..

this is pretty good !

disappointing and underwhelming at first, but it all becomes much more interesting with further exploration pretty fast, a lot of interesting details and trickery unravel themselves which may sound like a poorly produced mess at first. while it doesn't really hit like kid a did (which quite literally stunned me when i first heard it) and doesn't have the strength of amnesiac songs, it has a unique atmosphere and ambiance, more psychedelic than all the previous albums, it leaves you with a very pleasant aftertaste and lightheartedness. i think it can be compared to amnesiac, but it's much more brighter and lighter. i'm very happy that they've stepped away from the MOR leanings of in rainbows and httt.

highlights: little by little - love that riff and the creepiness, feral - this record's in limbo, pure atmosphere, lotus flower - radiohead pop, give up the ghost - beautiful disintegrating ballad

disappointment: codex - sounds kinda banal to me, although johnny's strings are gorgeous.

there has to be an ep coming soon. 37 minutes is way too short, even if it is all as stunning as this.

give up the ghost is the only thing i was praying for and not only is it there, it's just fucking gorgeous. my son is due any day or minute and this is just perfect timing :cry:

so just to confirm if i buy this now i get the mp3s now?

Actually, I read somewhere that only those who pre-ordered get to download it early... though I have no idea

What a cool thing to wake up to. Though it may be short in temporal length it makes up for it in depth. Far out.

yea, it really is awesome. the 2nd and 3rd pass through were very very rewarding. im taking a break until tonight now though.

lol I just read this;

A number of celebrities have been upset by Yorke's public persona. In 2001, Kelly Jones, the lead singer of the Welsh band Stereophonics, referred to Thom Yorke as a "miserable twat"[63] (a comment he later retracted[64]). In 2002, Jack Black claimed to have approached Yorke to congratulate him on his solo show at the Bridge School Benefit concert in San Francisco, only for Yorke to ignore him and walk away. Referring to the incident, Black stated in an interview: "I heard later that he's famously cold, and it wasn't just me that he despises, but the whole world."[65] After completing a trek of Kilimanjaro in 2009, Ronan Keating was asked by an interviewer which celebrity he would most like to throw off a mountain. Keating named Yorke, and referred to him as a "muppet", stating that Yorke was once rude to him, although he did admit to still liking his music.[66] In the same year, Miley Cyrus and Kanye West also complained about Yorke's alleged rudeness. In a response to these complaints, Yorke wrote on Radiohead's Dead Air Space website, "wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people I have managed to offend by doing nothing."

Just take the best B-sides from In Rainbows (you know, that underrated second CD), and form your own 60 minute album with KoL

did listen to it on very nice car speakers and there is lots and lots of heavy bass inside some tracks which is awesome. The beat also reminds me of autechre in parts. Like not directly but as if they where an influence to a certain extent :emotawesomepm9:

The "newspaper" edition will contain two 10-inch vinyl records in a special record sleeve, many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork, a compact disc, and a colour piece of oxo-degradable plastic package.

  Quote
Oxo Biodegradable (OBD) plastic is polyolefin plastic to which has been added very small (catalytic) amounts of metal salts. These catalyze the natural degradation process to speed it up so that the OBD plastic will degrade when subject to environmental conditions to produce water, carbon dioxide and biomass. The process is shortened from hundreds of years to years and/or months for degradation and thereafter biodegradation depends on the micro-organisms in the environment.
