totally has Burial up in that track.

i said that too, elsewhere. it sounds like radiohead doing a burial beat.

doubt it samples it though.

it's longer than slayer's reign in blood. and about the same length as the beatles' revolver.

I regret buying it without first having listened to the stream. I haven't been able to get past the first 3 or 4 tracks, too boring. I'm sure it's quality boredom though.

Second listen now and I think it's going to start sounding even better. First half stuck out more for me so far, I really love Bloom and Little By Little. And I would honestly love to see a move back towards shorter, succinct albums again. Back in my day they fitted nicely onto two sides of vinyl and in turn onto one side a C90 (and yeah, I know this is being pressed as 2 x 10"s).

Meaningless trivia: this is only a few seconds longer than the last Serena-Maneesh album, which also had 8 tracks.

you should call it a nigger, for the sake of consistency.

The King Of Limbs is like James Blake's album: you have to agree with the mass that this album is great or you are an idiot.

This would be true if it weren't for the fact that this record is better than the James Blake record. You can go ahead and hate it for the fact that it will be liked by most of the world. This is why most watmmers hate certain music. No use in stopping the trend.

you should know by now that if most people like something, watmm will hate it...

I had suspicions about the sound of the album based on the playlists thom has been posting on dead air space. he is a fan of shed and actress, and he loves burial too.

some of the songs met my expectations, but other songs have the mood of 4 minute warning, which in case you don't know, is the last track on the bonus in rainbows cd.

I have to remind myself of this sometimes with Radiohead, and albums like The King Of Limbs (not that it matters ultimately). And I have absolutely no snobbery about enjoying fuckloads-selling artists (Pink Floyd and The Beatles just for a start). Discriminating against music on the strength of its record sales alone seems juvenile now to an old fart like me.

I was nowhere near as impressive as I thought it would be... though it was enjoyable. I have no doubt it will grow on me with more listens (and I certainly want to keep playing it, as shorter albums always seem to have that effect on me)

yeah but it's not how they roll usually, just as you wouldn't expect autechre to come up with a 37 min. album (although it would be a good idea with oversetps)

kid a - ~50 mins and then less than a year later amnesiac with with ~45 mins

httt - 57 mins

in rainbows - 43 mins, in rainbows 2 - 26 mins

tkol - 37 minutes and 900 years till another radiohead album? NO WAI !

there's more to come, no doubt about it, they're just gonna fuck about with how they release it.

Looking forward already to the b-sides of Lotus Flower and/or whatever the inevitable singles might be. Although after buying the Discbox, the In Rainbows flipsides were a massive letdown.

Nope Oli... it's just accepting artistic creation as part of the whole canon / discography of an artist. This album fits perfectly into it, so what's to hate?

Is Thom ragging on Bono or is Thom just Bono now?

lol indeed, really like the tune though

i thought it was prety meh on first listen, but then i listened 4 more times to force my brain to like it.

no but seriously i think it's good. it doesn't have any fucking super awesome tracks like in rainbows had (15 step, nude, reckoner, videotape), but i think this works well as an albumy album. not hard when it's so short am i rite? lol jk

it's way longer than RDJ album btw.

I heard this too, it's obvious that Yorke has the rest of the band, Ed and his drumming especially, on board with his electronic music obsessions. He's collaborated with or been remixed by Burial, Flying Lotus, and Modeselektor, so this album to me sounds like In Rainbows + Eraser and I am digging it.

And honestly, an albums between 35-40 minutes is a godsend. If a band is not releasing singles, EPs, or concept/experimental albums with very long tracks, there's no point in releasing 50-70 minute long albums anymore. It's almost always full of some filler or just too exhausting.
