Looking forward already to the b-sides of Lotus Flower and/or whatever the inevitable singles might be. Although after buying the Discbox, the In Rainbows flipsides were a massive letdown.

yep... i want remixes!

Disk 2 was a worthy release, no question. Was just disappointed that some of the single b-sides were also lifted from it instead of keeping those songs exclusive.

totally has Burial up in that track.
i said that too, elsewhere. it sounds like radiohead doing a burial beat.doubt it samples it though.

I heard this too

i also hear a burial influence on bloom.

phil is da drummer

God dammit, I meant Phil. But yeah, Ed's still smoking weed and making great loops + effects.

I was actually really hoping it would be less "minimal" than In Rainbows. Parts of this album are pretty righteous, but it does sound kind of tinny, and doesn't have the muscle you'd expect from a band - a full, rich sound. Maybe that's "artful restraint" or whatever, but it's not totally thrilling. I think it's better than The Eraser and those Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses/The Hollow Earth tracks Thom put out, the latter which sound like they're from the same sessions as this album.

This is after one listen, and I'm being negative, but maybe some people know what I mean.

And Reign in Blood is 29 minutes long. So kiss my ass.

if you weren't a twat I'd give you an Internet high five.

fuck. this album is surely concise and to the point. the first 5 tracks are still a big blob of electro dark groove drippy goodness.

this record to me right now is not about thom, it is a showcase of the massive brilliance of the rhythm section. the reason that kid a and their electro side has been so successful is not because thom likes ae or aphex but because colin, Phil, Ed and even Johnny just adore destroying the pocket and making every flourish add to the wave of rhythm washing over every bit. everything here is selfless, egoless and contributing to the greater good.

every release makes them seem like they are at the top of their game which is great because they aren't stopping anytime soon. and this release is just the beginning of the king of limbs. this album is literally going to have a number of limbs. I don't expect an ep to accompany this, I expect at least 2 more 30 minute releases. after all, they aren't setting the bar for anyone but themselves and one thing that makes me love this band so much is that they love pushing their own envelope. so giddy ip and cheers. it's the first limb and is fucking brilliant.

heh yes. Hendricks martinis and a new radiohead album makes for a wonderful evening. I just hope my wife's water doesn't break tonight.

but I will retire from watmm if I am wrong about the king of limbs having multiple limbs.

you totally are drunk, but that was an awesome post (the long one).

I wouldn't quote those two in particular. But if kid A was the sound of a rock band who spent a year listening to the breezeblock, they've just spent the last few years listening to Gilles Peterson.

Sorry for being a wining bitch, but I like the version of Give Up The Ghost that's posted in this thread better than the album version. Which frustrates me because I loved that live version so damned much.

Apart from that, can't wait for the follow-up EP boxset.

*boohoo*

The live versions of every In Rainbows song were much, much better as well. Opinions, blah blah, but seriously. I think Thom Yorke is just way too scared of sounding like Coldplay, to the point where he ruins his own songs.

I don't know if this is just a foobar thing or what, but I noticed a really weird phenomenon with this album

When I play the album Foobar lists it as The Kings of Limbs (Disc 1) -

radiohead1.png

Nothing weird with that you might think, probably just mis-tagged as that in the album column of the id3 tags yeah ? However when I go to the properties of the album I gets the following -

So where the fook is it getting that Disc 1 from

ps. A visual depiction of me listening to Codex for the first time -:cry: It's utterly soul-wrenching but completely gorgeous

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

The More i listen to it the more i love it.

4. The Bends

5. Amnesiac

6. King of Limbs

D'oh just realised that the reason Foobar reports it as 'Disk 1' is just because they'd filled in the Disc Number tag. *Feels stupid*
