monotribe.jpg

No real details yet. Was discovered BEFORE April fools day ie: they registered a patent and someone noticed. But then today (April 1st) they release this teaser screen on iElectribe start up. Things are abuzzing with Music Messe coming up on the 6th.

I'm down....I doubt it will be a huge feature set, looks like baby steps, still testing a potential market for a "professional" version. BUt all the same, I'm there, I love electribes, and I love analog, not to mention ms-10/20/50 style =D

Looks like it maybe be digital waves, with maybe just an ms20 filter, or maybe it's all analog with digital electribe sequencer...

And if Korg is INDEED trolling us, well done Korg, well done. But they took out a patent on it, so it's pretty likely real.

I usually find this kinda stuff elsewhere, but I happened to be reading the "roland" thread and noticed the comment last night and started searching. :w00t:

remains to be seen but they are the first big corp to dip their little toe back into analogue and the legacy of the MS20 ipad app means threre's only one direction to go as far as hardware is concerned.

I've never used an electribe but they tend to have more than 1 voice right?

A 1 voice electribe would pretty much be a Korg Mopho

the ea-1 is monophonic, i think.

No, it has two synth voices with their own sequencer.

correct.

I don't see why this would be such a big deal for them. it would be awesome, and they already have all the part developed. Just gotta stick them together. :D

I'm sure it will be complicated, as they would still have to implement all the digital patch saving, and midi stuff. The mono tron has no midi or patches right?

...or VCA, or LFO routings, or LFO waveforms other than inverted sawtooth or VCO waveforms other than triangle(?), or any EGs at all...

There shall be drums.

I'm thinking this in line maybe with the EM-1?

I can't really imagine them jumping all the way to mx/sx territory (just yet, though i'd be thrilled). In the above pics you can see "HH" labeled next to the step button, but what a weird place to put a HH selection, and especially not before an "OH".

The EM is kinda meh, it's the only one i had no interest in owning. It came out right after the es-1 and i was quite content with the es. Course when the EMX and ESX came out i was like :emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9::emotawesomepm9:

thank god you finally changed from that terrible avatar.....

perhaps.....

what i was thinking like crazy was wait a minute, this is a drum machine too....SOoooo I wonder if they are gonna implement the analog low pass/high pass that is adjustable for everythign and inbetween bandpass...omg plz

also okay i really want them to put this out, then maybe sure do a korg ms 20 reissue, BUT i'd REALLLLLY love for them to break some new korg analog ground and design a totally new synth ala andromeda, and i'd say dave smith cuz the evolver is quite different than, but it's still a lot of the prophet vs. Tons of people bitch about newer analogs sound, but i dont care, you want vintage you buy some vintage stuff, you want uber flexable new modern stable analog with lots and lots of functions you buy something new. korg released some fantastic analog synths, and i know the ms-20 gets A LOT of the attention, but the poly six, and not to mention MOno/poly are awesome as well not to mention the others.

w000t anyway

I know I'm barking up the wrong tree here but I'm not so fussed if it is real analogue along the lines of the various other speculations. I'd much rather see something like the MOD-7 sound engine from the new Kronos dropped into an Electribe style box. If they put an MS20 filter at the end of that signal chain then I'd start to get really excited.
