I ordered the miditribe more than three weeks ago and it's still not there... I'll probably mail Amazing Machines tomorrow, too bad it takes so much time. Did you solve your problem and have some interesting results TRiP ?

unfortunately not yet, tried to hook it up to Ableton to at least test the monotribe playing longer steps then the 8 - but my midi-usb cable wouldnt work, so have to order a new one now

In terms of trying to get it to communicate with the Groovebox at the correct tempo - does anyone know of a midi device which regulates BPM between 2 devices?

Had a bit of a breakthrough with this recently - fiqured a way to sequence the monotribe via my mc505- pretty much what my aim was

HOWEVER

i can only sequence the 'tribe while its not in 'play mode' - but i'm finding that the sound of the 'tribe isn't as good when its not in regular play mode? I don't know, its just sounding like a basic synth when i sequence it via the mc505, but if I were to unhook the midi and sequence the tribe on its own the sound just sounds so much better and the filters/knobs feel so more responsive

any ideas why this might be?

That sounds weird. I'm not an expert but I can't see what could cause that. Are you sure it's not just a matter of volume ? Like the internal sequencer of the Monotribe is always producing full velocity notes, and the midi notes you send with your 505 have a lower velocity ? I mean, sometimes it's crazy how your appreciation of a sound can be influenced by its perceived loudness, maybe that's what happens in your case ? Otherwise I've no idea what it could be and I'd be interested in hearing some samples if you care.

It seems that my miditribe unit is somewhere at the customs... Still didn't receive a letter from them but I'm looking forward to play with the toy and share some impressions there.

Anyway I hope you'll finally find your pleasure with yours.

ha ! good to read

just received the letter for the customs, I'll go pick it next week, hope I'm able to use it soon (I've a track on fire which could benefit from some Mono-miditribe action).

i just realized that some filtered noise appears when I'm tweaking the cutoff knob but it disappears as soon as the knob doesn't move. It also only happens when the Monotribe is playing a note. Have someone an idea what that can be ? I have very little experience with analogue stuff and didn't meet any problem so far... :( pretty shitty when it happens right in the middle of a track

could any of you guys with the midi mods answer this?

does the ribbon send out midi notes exactly the same as it plays the synth?

i want to use the ribbon and sequencer for external gear and really love the slides and expression it has

edit: also gonna mod that sucker for separate outs for drums... ive got a monotron and monotron delay, drums sound monster thru that filter!

Yes indeed - if you hooked a MIDI OUT cable from the monotribe to a synth or anything MIDI IN instrument it should play exactly what you're playing with the Ribbon, or what you've step sequenced
