Anyone with access able to get me this paper? You leave academia for five minutes and suddenly you are banned from reading new research, seems legit.

Sci-hub is still online, but new papers are not being added and you can't get any papers that aren't in their archive.

At some point a few years ago, they they either stopped using or were blocked from using the institution keys that they had.  Not sure why, but I'm sure the explanation is somewhere out there.

As @EdamAnchorman noted, sci hub has not been accepting new papers for some time.

You may have better luck using the Open Access Button, if a paper is not available they provide a means to request the paper form the authors directly (many researchers will share their paper directly when asked).

Left my lap top power cable at my ma's house, and I only have 21% left on my battery.  Will have to use mp3s on my old computer for music listening tomorrow morning with my coffee.

Also, I went back to tik tok after a year's absence.  I left because they stopped featuring my vids on the "for you" page, which is the only reason to be on there.  It's because I had a mjusic vid that featured clips from an old 80's sode pop commercial, and every time I posted it they insisted it broke the community guidelines for alcohol/substance use.  And after a bit of back and forth they shut out my posts altogether.  First thing I post a year later is a music vid featuring dancing.  That got shot down for breaking community guidelines, no idea what for.  Maybe dancing was interpreted as obscene?  I posted a smaller segment of it, which finally made it to the fy page (first time in maybe a dozen posts that worked). Then I posted a vid of me recording vocals on a song, and that one was flagged for promoting alcohol and substance use!  I repost it, and the exact same same thing happens.  I'm literally singing in to a mic for the entire vid.  I then post it without the filter, and it finally passes the review.  Apparently the colouration in that filter somehow indicated substance or alcohol use.  Anyway, fuck tik tok, seriously.  

I've been working on a scientific paper for almost two years now and it's finally close to completion, but I just realised I crunched some numbers wrong and need to check all the data again. Last time it took me a whole day, and this is obviously something I only can do during weekends. I feel dumb and already spent so much time on this project that it makes me a bit sick.

Can't wait to submit this one.

Best of luck. I've been running experiments nonstop for 2.5 years for something I'm starting to write up now.  The best stuff takes time.

A woman from a political party knocked on my fucking apartment door!  It happened right after I left for work, and my partner spoke to her.  She was so weirded out by it she texted to tell me.  I happened to still be in the parking lot, and when she didn't respond to my response within 5 min I decided to go back to make sure she wasn't tied up in the closet.  Canvassing inside an apartment complex is fucking outrageous - who does that??  That sounds like the setup to a quarter of all true crime podcasts I've heard.  But the woman was indeed the main local candidate for the NDP party.  Normally I vote for them, but now I feel like maybe I should reconsider.  The new campaign method is creepy af.

I wonder if knocking on doors telling people about your religion or political views has ever convinced someone to change their mind? You would have to be pretty good salesman.

I think these visits are aimed at people who are on the fence about Jesus or Communism, not people who’ve got their mind made up.

Well it did make me consider changing my mind, but not in her party's favour.

Canvassing a house is normal, but to go door to door inside an apartment complex without getting buzzed in by the people you're approaching seems crazy.  I wouldn't have thought that was allowed.  Seems shady as hell.

The Jehova's Witnesses seemingly have stopped that at least here in Finland. I haven't seen them going door to door, just standing out in the streets with their leaflets. At some point years ago they were doing phone call campaigns and as soon as I heard the words "Jehova's Witness" I hang up the phone.

But since they kept doing it for decades and the church kept going with new members it must have worked at some point, right? But maybe it was just more common for people to drop a visit unannounced (especially before the ubiquity of cell phones) so people weren't so weirded out by it? Also I know a couple of cases when people just invited them in even though they had no interest in joining them just to get company because they were feeling lonely or bored. Again pre-internet and cell phones.

Oh they still come around here and knock on doors. Their tactic is bringing one that is old and one that is young. Totally works.

Client just called me and said that there had been a mistake. They had hired me to do the sound design for an ad. But the director had been working with a different sound designer on the side, so I just wasted a day on something that wasn't necessary.

Work has been such a pain in the fucking ass lately.

It might be that my neighborhood isn't just very good place to do door to door canvassing. I mean not a long time ago there were gun shots fired through a mail slot in the door of an apartment in some drugs related dispute. So, maybe not a good idea to go knocking on random doors?

My FWP is maybe I should move to a more peaceful neighborhood? On the other hand there are so many good restaurants and bars and nightclubs here.. And always something happening like I saw Zelensky's motorcade from my apartment's window just this week and a couple of weeks ago I saw the former president of Finland in a supermarket. But the drugs dealers and addicts hanging out now in front of the building's bike shed are kind of annoying. So, IDK.

I have a ground floor apartment, and directly across from my porch/sliding glass door is the parking lot to what seems to be a halfway house of sorts.  Either that or it's a low income apartment that just happens to have many of the type you mentioned.  I personally really enjoy getting to be witness to the variety of crazy that goes on over there.  It keeps things interesting.  But it makes it that much more concerning when we get random unexpected knocks on the door.  I sometimes find coathangers that have been modified into what I can only assume are lock picks outside the side door to our building.  I'm always seeing people rummaging around in the underground dumpster, and sometimes the bin in the lobby.  The fixation on trash as some sort of valuable treasure worth breaking in for is fascinating and incomprehensible to me.  But people fucking love trash around here.

Yeah, there are all kinds of shenanigans also here. People don't here care about trash here that much. But one time someone had left a supposedly broken flat screen TV outside in the yard and it stood there in the rain for about a week so for sure it was fucked by then and I was already wondering why the maintenance guys don't take it away. Then one day when I was watching out my window two guys with hoods over their heads came, looked quickly around, picked up the TV and ran away. I guess that's one way to get rid off your electronics waste..

New FWP: I think I just spent about 3 hours whipping up a dozen different album covers, because tunecore wouldn't accept any with the blurry aesthetic I actually wanted.  Their site won't accept blurry images, so if that's part of your artistic vision, too fucking bad.  Got so fed up with it I went with the first crisp-enough image they accepted, which I don't like as much as any of the blurred ones.  It's not at all what I intended, but they left me no choice.  Now it's 4am and I still have to do dishes.  FML.

I found one pair of underpants in my drawer that are wayyyy stretched out. If I try to put them on they will drop to my ankles. First I thought I got accidentally someone else's with different size but they are mine and they are the same size as my other underpants. What in the fuck happened to them? Some giant borrowed my underwear and then returned them to my drawer?
