the hipster hate is because it's all so calculated. the instruments are chosen because of their look, not their functionality (fixie bike) and any music they make is incidental, a waste product of their main intention which is getting up on a stage in front of a bunch of people and posing and looking cool. as a music fan, it kind of ticks me off to see an art form crapped on like that. fuck a hipster.

If something gets a following then people wanna use it. Doesn't matter how crap or unusable it is. But hey we all buy into one vision or another of making music. I got a lot of cheap hardware. I've probably spent about £200 on hardware this year which is really nothing and I'm using the stuff and making good use of it. Of course you don't need to hardware anymore to make music. Its like you don't need vinyl to hear tunes these days with mp3 but people still do it 'cause it has history and its just fun.
