Really like Angel Integer, especially the awesome breakdown, but it'd be completely amazing if it did something cool after the snare rush and not...that...

Overall, Ufab and Angel Integer are a hugely pleasant surprise. I needed something after Iradelphic. If valtari sucks (entire album streaming Thursday at midnight GMT) I'm going to castrate myself and live as a eunuch in Gary, Indiana.

Apologies for going off-topic, but it would seem that the valtari hour streaming thing might be based on your time zone. So it's 7:00 p.m. my time tomorrow, but it may also be at 7:00 p.m. for each time zone. Fuck it, I don't know. I just didn't want anybody to be led astray. Go here and see what it tells you: http://sigur-ros.co.uk/valtari/hour/

So um, Ufabulum is good! Angel Integer is good! I saw Tom announced more tour dates (none of which are near me, but that's not new)...I wonder if he's just going to keep playing through the entire album? That would seem kind of stupid in a few months, once everyone's heard it, seen the videos of the LED bonanzae, etc.

The packaging for the CD edition is really nice. I am conflicted about this album overall, but it does sound good in the car, which is why I bought the physical of it.

I'm thinking either Jesus riding a dinosaur or one of those hilarious off-purple shirts with a moon and a howling wolf on it that people with cadaverous looking skin wear. Speaking of cadaverous, nice interview with Venetian Snares at the quietus. Cross-promotion!

Geez, apparently you have to edit shit fast around here. I totally made my previous post even more awesome, but now you'll never get to read it.

Is this album called

You Fab You Lum

or

Uh Fab Uh Lum

or something else? Please provide citations

I've been pronouncing it:

Oof-Abu-Loom

Pretty sure I'm right.

I've been pronouncing it "ooo-fab-you-lum"

... but just in my head.

Panic Massive from Enstrobia has got its hooks into the appreciation chamber of my brain. It's radio friendly fodder, and probably one of the most likely tracks to end up being randomly used on a TV sports show (Dark Steering being the obvious contender for something like Top Gear to soundtrack all those moody panning shots of a car that nobody in the real world can afford). Anyhoo, It's catchy as anything, and just a fun little track that reminds me not to take SP too seriously.

It was definitely you-fab-you-lum in my head, but thanks to this thread I'm starting to wonder if ooo-fab-you-lum might be better. That pronunciation gets at UBER as well as FABULOUS, which I enjoy

No digital download the EP? Ugh

of course not. what would be the point of having an exclusive EP for the special edition?

Well you gotta admit Warp has been doing this thing a lot lately where they intentionally leave the details of the distribution of fancy editions very vague. Probably to pump up Bleep preorders. I did not preorder this album, I just went to the store earlier this week (here in Boston) and bought a copy of the deluxe CD edition for 20 bucks.

My buddy preordered an LP-T of this and he does NOT get Enstrobia? That's kinda weird. People who take the time/cash to preorder with the label, but then don't end up getting as much music as slackers like me have a right to be a little annoyed, I think.

What's the point of even making CDs nowadays?

my car lacks an aux input (and lacks an easy way to install an aux input), lacks a tape deck, and if you try using one of those FM units to play a media player via your car's stereo in a big city with crowded airways, you''ll see why they're terrible. My car is a 2006 model, so it does not predate the dominance of the iPod, and I don't think it's particularly unique.

plus the CD is a convenient archive that isn't tied to the lifespan of an HDD.

and I can trade or sell the CD for actual money

Okay so then why penalize those who buy digital? Why not offer up a special digital edition with the bonus ep and a slightly higher price tag? I'd rather buy that bonus ep then download it from the internet

The only reason I can think to not offer limited availability digital editions (when limited physical editions will surely end up as free pirated digital editions with only one step of complication) is that the artist or label either (1) thinks the physical packaging is important (and I tend to appreciate presentation), or (2) thinks its easier to market the "scarcity" of a physical limited edition.

I'm stuck here waiting (still) for my pre-ordered physical copy to arrive, so that I can actually listen to Enstrobia, and I'm not particularly thrilled about this either. I would have appreciated a courtesy download of Enstrobia in the meantime, and bleep could have restricted the ability to download Enstrobia to those who had pre-ordered the 2CD edition, but see above.
