sooo new album coming?

Even if that's not for a new album there's lots of Aphex communication on the Warp website right now - they even made articles about photos from the Australian tour etc. I guess they're tring to wake the thing up !

why is the bundle pricier (45) than buying two separately (44)? even with shipping the bundle is a few bucks ahead (61 vs 56). how does that make sense? is there a bonus in the bundle or something? someone explain.

I won't buy these from Bleep, hopefully it will end in some local record stores. I mean Aphex Twin isn't a total unknown guy, it could be possible to find the 12" without the shipping fees...

apparently there's two reissues going around....the shitty 1972 label reissue, and the official Warp reissue.

so, good luck there...

Without owning the 1972 re-issue of the SAWII- are they really so shitty? I have read the thread about that but most people said the reissue sounds actually pretty good (for a master from CD).

Just asking. But you are right, I would prefer the official Warp re-issue too.

Well, I don't think that "mainstream" record stores will buy obscure reissues instead of the official Warp one, especially for vinyl. Warp is a pretty strong and influent label, and it communicates a lot more and better than 1972 (for instance). I hope it won't be too hard to find tho, or I'll eat my fingers.

My uncle works at warp and he told me that the new aphex album will be out in less than two weeks.

Also, my aunt works at the place where they print the artwork for these releases, and she told me that what my uncle said was totally true.

My cat who works at the local cd retailer told me the same thing.

pre-order from Bleep and not have to worry about this silly debate.

Lol I guess you're right but it's more of a money problem right now, I'll have to wait anyway, and I'd be curious to see whether I can find cheaper than Bleep or not [/skinflint]

when's the fucking other people place repress coming

Seriously! or Boards of Canada records for that matter. These things are unreasonably expensive to get second hand nowadays.

Anyway, this repress is certainly a step in the right direction.

Joyrex mentioned that Warp isn't really interested into bringing out old classix on wax. I hope they don't do this as a money grabber move and go back to archives and reissue some gems with bonus tracks. I bet they have some seriously great extra tracks in the dat(a) archive

I think they saw the success 1972 had with the SAW II repress and they've realized there's still a market for these classics... I wonder if the WARP represses are from the source material or they are CD represses... could be a selling point to the fans if they want to ensure fans get the WARP represses over the 1972 versions...

What really gets on my tits is the fact this label is called "1972" - I've had people asking me if these really were originally issued in 1972 since they see shit online like "...I Care Because You Do (Aphex Twin) (1972)"

And they really do need to reissue the Boards stuff... although I could see them holding off a bit longer and time any reissues around a new release...

The 1972 reissues have their copyright and mention on the sleeves; the WARP ones will be identical to the originals.

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to announce that the vinyl re-issues of Aphex Twin's 'I Care Because You Do' and 'Richard D. James Album' have been delayed.

Both records will now be released on the 26th November 2012.

Warp have been working to ensure that the releases are the best quality they can be.

During this process we have come across a few difficulties which have resulted in this delay.

We can also now confirm that '...I Care Because You Do' will be recut from the original vinyl production master tape. 'Richard D James Album' will be re-cut for vinyl from the CD master by Kevin Metcalfe, the original mastering engineer on '…I Care Because You Do'.

Interesting that they are going to remaster RDJ album for vinyl from the digital master. Might end up being better than the original pressing.

You're misunderstanding the mastering process. Recutting from a CD master for vinyl is never better than from the original master tape.

Warp have fucked up. Disappointing.

I fail to understand the point of pre-orders. Why pay for something 3 months in advance of getting it? Unless the vinyl is limited edition of course. I'll just pay for this the day before it's released.
