Damn, still don't have the repress vinyl I ordered at my local record store. They have it still for preorder with release date on January 25.

I have to stick to my original pressings then

How is the quality of the repress? Especially of the RDJ albums?

Warp30 anyone? A 4-hour selection.

Amon Tobin megamix sonic gravity pull in 3, 2, 1...

FSOL turns 26 megamix. Auauauaaaaaaaaaaaauaua

Boards Of Canada are soooo lush. Shhhhhhhhhhh hhuuuuhuuuu haaaaa!

Best of Jega BaBooooooom!

I can't imagine how yummy rdj album (& esp. icbyd once that arrives for everyone) sounds on vinyl.. Anyone care to share the sound quality?

when i break it out ill be sure to put up a review.....

i remember being really disappointed with a Mint copy of the R&S reissue of SAW 85-92, and the first thing I heard was scratching on the vinyl...must've messed up during shipment....what a downer.

Sleave on new copy of RDJ has a different UPC and a more reddish tone to the skin both on the front and on the back used in the collage/labels.

Original pressing is much louder and has more pronounced mids. At times it almost sounds like the master is on the verge of being overdriven compared to digital formats, but this really makes it thud and sometimes just go totally off the wall - in a good way(the filtered rolls before the beat drops out on 4 or the bass on cornish acid).

New pressing is quieter and cleaner sounding. The sound is a little less dynamic but the mix sounds more balanced.

The new pressing is pretty nice and for complex tracks accentuates certain aspects of the sounds in ways the original doesn't but the original is imo a more fun listen and sounds more "live".

I don't have an original of ICBYD. It is also a bit quiet of a pressing but sounds really great and lush. super deep tight bass.

Also, the cover on both Warp reissues has a slight touch of the blurriness you see all the time on represses these days, when inferior artwork sources have been used instead of the originals. Not the worst I´ve seen, though.

I was going to mention this, too. The records sound fine, but the artwork for RDJ (at least my copy) is pixellated. You can clearly see this in the reflection on his eyes. I was somewhat disappointed by this: was the original pressing pixellated? It seems that they stretched out a JPEG that was too small for the cover art of an album. The contrast stands out even more clearly against the "Warp" logo in the corner, which has no pixellation.

My copy of ICBYD is just blurry, not pixellated. Again, I was disappointed because I found scans of the cover art that seem to have higher resolution than the ones they used for my repressings.

so, exactly what you'd expect from a record pressed with a CD master?
