Well, fuck XCOM 2: WotC. I can't count how many times I've had to restart missions now. It's been rampant frustration from the get-go. Probably time to uninstall.

Besides, I've already beaten the base game.

Anyone played Amnesia? Free this week on PS Plus, the graphics look a bit pants but could be fun.

It's the piggy one, right? It's... not great. Tedious stealth, puzzles are find the thing and put the thing in the thing, it's basically just a lot of walking through set pieces and listening to voice snippets.

The atmosphere and set pieces are really good, industrial revolution hellscape is captured pretty well. But it was pretty much the death knell for the "walking simulators" microgenre of games.

I think it's both the original and a machine for pigs or whatever it's called. Download them and give it a shot? You already paid for them.

Ah right. Dark Descent is pretty good! Piggies not so much - but yeah, if it's free, worth it alone for the industrial horror vibes.

Speaking of horror vibes, started Darkest Dungeon - I really love the atmosphere, artwork, general tone of the game. Can't tell if I like the gameplay or not though, and if I suck at it real bad. Every time I take a level 1 party in for a mission they've all lost their minds by the end of it and I lose a party member or two. Judging by steam reviews end-game is grindy and RNG heavy too. Worth slogging on?

Dark Descent was great! It has a sanity level like Eternal Darkness (one of my gamecube-era favorites) which causes auditory hallucinations and weird graphical morphing when it runs low. Very cool system. Machine for Pigs looked boring, I haven't played that one.

I don't think it has the sanity system like DD. A lot of the things that made DD so interesting were gutted, hence walking simulator comparisons.

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

Why is no one talking about GT Sport?  Game is fly as hell.

GT is the most sterile racer. It's like driving around in a hospital.

I'm sorry.  It's a bad game.

Yeah I'm not that much into cars so could never really get into the series

GT Sport does look pretty though

aside from every car sounding like a vacuum cleaner, Gran Turismo is the best racing series. Challenging, tuning etc, massive amount of vehicles all with a different feel.

I've found that, as with the base game, once you reach a certain point your squad is way overpowered (esp when you train up a psy op). Have you defeated all of the chosen yet? Game gets a lot easier when you don't have to worry about them popping up.

I do like race games and would love to love GT, but the last one I played I gave up on when it was taking me ages to get something better than a Mazda MX5 after having a load of time with some fucking Sportwagon POS.

Haven't played a racer for a good few years though so may take the plunge once the price lowers, depending on people's opinions.

Nope, but I did get very close on the mission where you put down the Assassin for good. Then I got my ass handed to me.

Then I deleted all of my saves and started over from scratch, then got my ass handed to me on the second mission. Restarted that one, and got my ass handed to me again.

I'm sorry, but it's not worth the frustration for me anymore. Not sure if I'm gonna uninstall it, but I'll at least be taking a break from it for a while. In the meantime, there's loads of classic Doom mods to fall back on. And the new Wolfenstein in two weeks.

Did anyone play The Flame in the Flood on PC? I really like the character stylization, so tempted to buy it for Switch.

Side topic - I bought an Xbox One controller today, since trying to play Mother Russia Bleeds with keyboard is painful. Looking forward to trying it out tonight after work.

Due to my games predominantly being FPSs in the past (and hence keyboard+mouse), this will take some getting used to!

Oh yeah, I got halfway thru MRB but never finished it. A controller/game pad is definitely the way to go. I also recommend connecting your PC to your TV monitor via HDMI cable if you have one, so you get the full console-like experience.

I don't have a TV (yeah yeah, I know what you're thinking...) but my main monitor is a 30" Dell, so not far off

i bought binding of issac for the switch used from eb games (canada gamestop) and it didn't come with a manual

does this games usually have one because i've seen pictures online

but maybe only first editions have the manual

it makes me think i was ripped off but i want to be sure

i'm glad i pushed through with Yakuza 0. finished it today after around 40 hours or so. the story and characters are enough to make it worthwhile although everything else is janky as hell. might pick up the remake of the first game sometime.

next up i have Hitman. hope it's deec.

I'm still playing Hitman. I beat the game and all the side missions, but the real value is finding all different the ways to assassinate the targets on each level. So much fun.

Have the updates to Overcooked on Switch improved the experience much?  Looking for a multiplayer game to play with a lady this weekend.

Put the Switch down and have sex - great multiplayer game if you're good at it.

Just make sure your TV has a "game" mode or that it can do 4:4:4 chroma; otherwise your on-screen text will look like garbage.

Grim Dawn: started a new playthrough (rolled Inquisitor/Demolitionist, fire heavy dual pistols) and just finished the original campaign on veteran, now on to the expansion acts. can't settle on what devotions to use though, at this point my dude gets all squishy with certain hero mobs cuz I don't have enough resist %s, but I don't wanna give up the gnarly DPS & near constant procs I've built up. think I've spent half my play time comparing gear affinity combos, but I always end up selling 99% of what I initially think are such great green drops off anywayo. haven't had to respec at all really but I'm hitting a wall with regens & I'm built up w/ farmed crafted perks to max aether & fire but idk what hordes I'm up against in the new acts so I might have screwed myself

Just started a new Wolfenstein: The New Order playthrough. But I'm having technical issues with it not wanting to run in fullscreen, and when I do get it to, there's a big drop in framerate. I hear disabling DPI scaling fixes it, but it doesn't seem to for me. Oh well. I guess it's better to have optimal framerate in windowed mode than a slideshow on fullscreen. But I think the game was released prior to Windows 10, too.

Anyway, this is just to whet my appetite for the new one coming out in just over a week. Hopefully it won't have these same issues then.
