Man I wish Dave Smith's filters were more lush. 12 voices w/4 osc and 4 lfo is sadly greasy with no balls. Where's my balls?

Why the hell would anyone pay 3000 dollars for a prophet 12? It's completely digital aside from the weak filters, so you can get the same quality with softsynths...

Poor Dave Smith! A guy on another forum told me that Dave Smith meets up with other synth pioneers in California every once in a while to hook up and discuss ideas. He's put his whole life into making synths. I get why it's ok to diss Roland, because it's such a giant megacorp. Dave Smith ain't no mega corp.

Just need to wait a little bit here. Loads of great new synths are going to come out from various manufacturers.

I reckon Yamaha will be the next big company to come out with something.

It will be Korg, then Yamaha, then finally Roland will do something when it sees Yamaha move. Because Yamaha is a true mega corp and in general it is a much better company that Roland.

Reissues of Yamaha CS 30 and GX 1 anybody? What I'd love to see is a miniature GX-1, with a real tiny piano keyboards that are pressure sensitive.

If we organised ourselves as a group we could get the message through to these companies.

Don't get me wrong, I have lots of respect for Dave Smith, I just think that he's made a lot of poor decisions with the synths that he makes these days.

I think Dave Smith instruments stuff sounds shit too. never been into it tbh. sounds kind of uninspiring...

I always thought the Evolver seemed fun to fart around on. Nice form factor, lots of parameters at your fingertips, interesting sequencing. Just seems like a cool toy. That said, I've never actually got my hands on one and it sounds pretty bland in most videos I've heard of it.

Horses for courses and all that... but I quite like the sound of the DSI stuff. I've had a notion to put cash aside for a MophoX4 thing and try to pretend that it doesn't have such a pish name. But I reckon the new Prophet 12 sounds top-notch - chances of realistically being able to save that kind of cash tho is pretty remote. Also, whoever said that it was all digitial except the filters needs to go back and re-read the specs.

the evolver is really very interesting. it strikes me as one of the more unique synthesizers.

Have a link?

the oscillators aren't analogue, otherwise Dave would make mention of that in the video. he doesn't.

he does however play up the fact that it has analogue filters and amp section.

if the oscs were analogue too, he'd say.

I've been asking for this for a long time. I think that I, along with some other watmmers, sent an email to korg when the monotron came out asking for more analogue products. Maybe they listened? I know the zeitgeist is out there.

Preordered one. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'm perfectly happy with my setup, don't feel a need for any more analogues, but this is going to integrate very well with my A4 which can spit out Hz/V. Hmm.

The new MS20 is volt/octave, though.
