I just rediscovered my first Zephyr Nova album.  Totally forgot it existed... and it seems kind of miraculous that it's still online somewhere (which I had no part of).

Neat.

live show brought in a couple hunrit dollars & most of the attendees were just randos who saw the couple dozen posters a friend & i peppered around town one evening

I'M RICH

it was also really valuable getting some insight into how various themes i'm exploring played out on speakers, in a room, to a crowd. the stuff that really got a response, the stuff that immediately felt like "okay this is good but it is really meant to be experienced in the context of being alone in your room with headphones". took a lot of notes. i intend to keep exploring these realms, master them, git rich etc

they gave me free booze

I was going for a walk listening to the final track off NTS Session 2 around midnight, as I am wont to do, and of course a goddamned cop car slowed to a stop as it approached me from the opposite direction.  This scenario plays out a fair bit - cop slows down, I reluctantly pull off my headphones, they ask what I'm doing wandering this neighbourhood at such a late hour, I explain what should be self-evident to anyone who isn't an idiot cop.  But I'm sick of their BS, so I decided to just give them the cold shoulder this time.  Just kept walking without giving them a glance, and much to my surprise it worked.

Been working my fucking ass off the past month at my job, clocked 26 hours of overtime at pay and a half for this pay period, tomorrow's check is gonna be nice.

Nothing like sweet OT after working your ass off, been there man

I got two small flashes and two arms for my camera for cheap. Means my camera has now two flexible arms with flashlights mounted on them which is very useful for handheld macro photography.

Walked/hiked/jogged over 80km since Saturday. Including a few long (6hrs ish) hikes up some beautiful mountains.

Trying to get in shape/healthy after realizing how much of a fat slob I've become over the last few weeks. Good start ;o

Switched all my insurance over to a diff company - down from $9000/yr to $6000. Saved 1/3rd of the cost, only took 20 minutes, same coverage etc.

Nah, health insurance (benefits like paramedical, prescriptions etc) here is generally covered/paid for by employers (though the quality varies greatly). Most primary health care (doctors,  hospitals, life saving shit like cancer treatment etc) are covered under public health care for a low cost per year (I think 200-1000/yr).

That's vehicle and home insurance. My original company wanted $751/month, new company $501/month.

edit: that's a lot of extra beer I can afford now.

you must have a lot of shit. my flat contents is insured upto £25,000 for like £175 a year. thats the only insurance i pay.

realised immediately afterward posting that that i dont own my flat, so the insurance is only contents. still, 5 grand a year in insurance is crazy.

It's mostly the vehicles tbh - the house insurance (contents and the property itself) is $960/yr (about £575?). That's not too bad when you consider it covers rebuilding the house!

What would it cost to insure one vehicle there do you think?

i dont drive. i think at worst around £1200, down to more like 400 when you have been driving with no accidents for a decade or so.

Damn, another game I'm working on has been spotted by GameInformer and Jonathan Cooper (animator at Naughty Dog) out of nowhere

You can hear some of the sound design and music at the end of the video. This is from an old target render though. The end product will look even better.

That looks awesome. Congratulations!

I accidentally dropped my smart phone about 15 feet, but it hit a pile of clothes/towels I had carelessly thrown on the floor due to being a total slob.  From there it slid gently onto the hard wood floor, completely unscathed.  Still haven't bought a case for it, though I don't think it would have helped if my mess pile weren't there to cushion its fall.

Clear evidence that you should never clean your room.
