stoning people is not good for community cohesion.

Sadly, I can think of few more unifying experiences than a public stoning. The line between in-group and out-group is crystal clear, the crowd gets to feel morally just and superior together and those guilty of the same crime get the "at-least-it's-not-me" boost that may serve to redouble their commitment to the in-group. Adultery is only the pretext if you go deep enough. The lapidated woman is a catharsis for the man who is angry at his pent-up, forbidden arousal or the female rejections he has suffered. She is also an outlet for the women who have the dual burden of living in strict patriarchy and avoiding the perception of dishonor or shame brought on by her or her daughter's unavoidable sexuality.

Very well worded, triple X. It's a sick way of maintaining some sort of community. It's enabling an extreme kind of peer-pressure.

what is your proof that Islam is the most violent religion (in the present)?

Circumcision numbers.

It's not a coincidence that all of the three main forces for evil in the world today (United States, Islamo-Judeo Fascism, LTM forum) advocate the mutilation of new born children's genitals.

i didn't know where to post this: http://edition.cnn.com/2013/04/04/world/asia/afghanistan-honor-killing-survivor

shit's fucked up. i don't think it's islam, just a terrible culture, but i am sure that notions of chastity in islam probably support this sort of behavior like notions of chastity in christianity led to things like chastity belts and other torture devices.

You guys might find this interesting. My mom, who is a midwife, has been here in Shanghai to help deliver my daughter. We were just talking this morning about some of her patients. We got on the subject of her Muslim patients.

She had one lady who married a Syrian guy. She converted to Islam as he wanted, changing her name to Mary Muhammad Abdullah or whatever. As their pre-birth meetings went on, she started wearing more and more traditional clothing. By the time of the birth, they had her in full chadoor, with even her hands covered, and just an eye-slit to see out of. After the baby was born, the husband took the whole family back to Syria. That was the last my mom heard of them.

Fast forward 14 years, she gets a call from the woman, who is in lock-up in the US. She says after she moved to Syria, her husband became very abusive ("as is common in their culture" my mom opined). When they took a trip to the UK, she managed to escape from him, with their kid. But her husband, who was a US citizen, reported her for "child abduction" in the US. Eventually she decided to "face the music", as she really wanted her kid to grow up in the US. When she flew back, they put her in detention, from where she called my mom, asking her to please send a letter in her defense. My mom told her she would only be willing to write a letter describing what she personally witnessed during the lead up to her delivery.

Another case, my mom had what she calls "a really nice Muslim couple", where the husband was from Iran. She said they recently decided to go back and visit Iran. However, they had planned for only a short trip, but they haven't come back yet (to my mom's knowledge). She says she's concerned because "you know in Iran, they won't let a wife leave the country without the husband's permission, it's the law." She's worried her patient may have become trapped there.

So yeah. Gotta love Islam.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

I'm curious what people think of untouchable islamic law countries like Saudi Arabia or Bahrain. Does the United States not care about militarily assaulting them because of powerful Saudi money interests? Or perhaps it's evidence that we use Islamic terrorism only as an excuse to attack or occupy countries that we need some sort of strategic gain from. If US foreign policy can be in any way validated by the 'moral' argument, that we want to 'spread democracy' to theocratic regimes that cause an existential threat to us, why have we completely stayed away from and even protected Saudi Arabia, when 14 of the 19 hijackers were from there?

What's so fascinating to me about the idea of marginalizing and demonizing islamic populations in the middle east is that they are so *easy* to demonize, as compson has demonstrated. Glenn Greenwald has also written extensively about the subject of civil liberties erosions in the United States, and how historically the concept of the dangerous 'other' is used as a scapegoat for those civil liberties curtailments. What better a target or a scapegoat than an entire population of people sitting on top of ample oil and on a plot of land which has yet to be conquered by western imperialism who happen to have a generally distasteful culture to Americans. Paul Wolfowitz was quoted as saying on the evening of the end of the first Gulf War that we need to 'eliminate all the old Soviet client regimes like Syria, Lebanon, Libya' and if we can invade Iraq successfully and the 'soviets' don't do anything, that means we can invade the rest of the countries that we need to.

On another note, part of me is surprised that more people aren't angry about being emotionally manipulated by things like 'we cant wait for the smoking gun to come in the form of a mushroom cloud' or the US government allowing us to believe for 7 years that Anthrax came from muslim terrorists (used by Colin Powell to make the case to the UN for Iraq), when in fact they knew in 2003 that it came from Ft. Detrick Maryland bio-weapons facility.
Even the Palestinian celebration footage, such hardcore emotional manipulation during collective anger that is totally unparalleled in American history besides perhaps Pearl Harbor.

Abusive husbands are abusive husbands no matter what fucking religion they follow, this guy used islam to oppress his wife, the white christian guy will use other things to oppress his wife.

Islam's tracking record on women's right is atrocious but to use this story against Islam is kind of bullshit because the whole thing would be different if the guy was a non abusive muslim.

Turkish president warns of Holocaust if intolerance continues

  Quote

Islam and migrants have been a reality in Europe for centuries. As long as the continent of Europe doesn’t approach segments which are different from the majority with tolerance, particularly in regards to religion, an occurrence of new inquisitions and Holocausts, as well as incidents evoking Srebrenica, are probable,” Gül said yesterday.

April 13, 2013

" Last law bearing means that any reformer or Prophet will be a subordinate of the Holy Prophet (saw) and no new Messenger and Prophet with a new religion, book or decree will come after him. Everything from him will be under the banner of Islam only."

I don't think he meant that Turkish Muslims would be creating a holocaust, he is implying that the intolerance of the European world toward muslims might result in a holocaust, ie, their intolerance will lead to large numbers of people dying.

Dude also said (from the same article):

  Quote
Racism and a lack of tolerance of different cultures and lifestyles are some of the chronic diseases in Western societies, Gül said, drawing attention to the increase in support for political parties which portray migrants as the main reason for societal problems in European countries such as safety, unemployment, crime and poverty.

“When politics begins ‘otherizing’ a segment, then we see the alienation of migrants and minorities from the country in which they live and from the society in which they live as an inevitable consequence. As seen in countless examples in history, countries which have been able to perpetuate societal and cultural diversity in unity and harmony have stood out in history. Correspondingly, countries which have exerted efforts to either destroy or put pressure on societal and cultural diversity due to different fears have first of all lost their human richness; subsequently, they have experienced a loss of economic and political power,” the president said.

“In this regard, although each country is responsible for producing its own authentic resolutions, showing respect for multiculturalism [is necessary],” he said.

“Racism and intolerance toward different cultures and lifestyles are unfortunately one of the most chronic diseases. Although this disease can be taken under control, it arises again, particularly during times of economic crisis,” he said.

What racism and intolerance in Europe?

Are you calling me a racist?

I have prejudice, but everyone has prejudice:

an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.

Question is, why do you put your trust in an Islamic Fanatic?

Those were the Turkish president's words, not mine. I don't think he was calling you a racist. Unless maybe you've met him.

I don't put my trust into an "Islamic Fanatic," and I certainly don't put any trust in you.

Yeah, 'a lack of tolerance.' That's the part I was referring to. You know, the thing I've been talking to you about for pages now ITT. I kinda figured you would remember that, since it was as recent as yesterday. Not once have I called you a racist. You have certainly been calling me an Islamofascist though, which I was loling about with my friends today, so thanks for that.

what's interesting about this is Lumpenprol is often one of the first on the forum to defend what the west perceives as Chinese government oppression. Maybe if he lived in Tehran and not Shanghai his attitude would be different

I read your post -- it was a damn interesting point indeed. I wish I was more educated in the international politics and US involvement in the middle east, but the concerns you raise seem valid to me, and I am largely on the same page as you when it comes to most political topics. I had no idea about that anthrax bit though.

so Compson, since you won't stop fucking up my thread, what say you to the fact that 14 out of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 are Saudi Arabian but yet the US is totally hands off and is never critical of their human rights abuses.

I'm intolerant of intolerance (Islam)...

" Last law bearing means that any reformer or Prophet will be a subordinate of the Holy Prophet (saw) and no new Messenger and Prophet with a new religion, book or decree will come after him. Everything from him will be under the banner of Islam only."

Well then, refer to my statement from yesterday: "There can be no fighting intolerance with intolerance. It doesn't work."

You should probably answer Awepittance.
