parents call it a set up, eh? They must have noticed how easily huge numbers of the US population believe conspiracy theories.

I think any parent who's son died in a fire fight and who hasn't seen any convincing evidence of his guilt has every right to think that or at least demand evidence.

Also, the fact that he wasn't shot nor burned to death in a botched raid makes me think the case will be a bit more black and white as more information follows...I think this will fizzle out in terms of news coverage and he'll be in the same status as say, the Aurora shooter, the Fort Bliss shooter or any number of terrorist plot suspects currently in US custody. The only wrench I can think of is if he was part of a larger contingent, which I doubt.

They're interviewing roommates last I heard. It's them being thorough and trying to get as much info on the brothers, I highly doubt there's a terror cell.

Glad he is in custody. I do have to wonder though, could there be others? The BPD detonated an explosive device on the block I lived on for 4 years, which is in Boston and the last 24 hours all took place across the river in Cambridge and Watertown. So where did this device come from? Did they go around Boston just dropping off bombs in random locations yesterday morning? Or are there are there other people involved? Many questions to be answered.

It's highly unlikely, that specific group was small and their leader was killed in 2006. The group carried a lot of attacks including the infamous school hostage taking at a school in Beslan The brothers were likely in contact with one of many anti-Russian pro-separatist Chechen terrorist groups or insurgent movements, but probably not that specific group, known formally as the Riyadus-Salikhin. Most cells and individual terror plots in the US and EU have been those setups - not "dispatches" of terrorists from overseas like in the 70s and 80s.

Terrorism and insurgency is multi-leveled and complicated. That's why I mention my immediate skepticism anytime "Al-Qaeda" is mentioned in the news - it's like a connection to Al-Qaeda is a litmus test for public endorsement or mere interest in US politics.

Anyone who followed the Mali conflict this year might of noticed that the original rebels actually started working with the Mali government in an uneasy alliance once the Islamist took over the insurgency in Mali. Syria is the same way - the Islamic fighters, many of whom are foreign, have been a huge military asset for the Syrian rebellion but there is already incredible tension and in-fighting is all but guaranteed later on between the Islamist radicals and the secular and moderate Muslim rebel factions.

The wars and insurgencies in the Caucasus region from the fall of the USS up until today are arguably some of the most complicated and hard to follow. The in-fighting and ebb-and-flow of alliances and leadership is remarkably unpredictable and at times absurd. You can literally get lost trying to read about all of the nuances to it.

glad they got him in custody...though from what Ive heard his wounds could potentially be life-threatening. He needs to survive goddamnit so that he can be tried in a fucking court of law....why is it so strange that I demand this of criminals nowadays?

I also heard that the Attorney General says there is a public safety stipulation that allows the police/FBI to waive miranda rights during interrogation....I wonder if that will cause problems down the road.

But anyways, I've been trying to distance myself from painting him one way or the other.....now that Im hearing the brothers were Chechens makes it even more of a mystery/complicated? Hope he survives. We should get some answers.

btw whatever happened to the notion that someone is innocent until proven guilty? what do a few photos and a dead civilian and a dead police officer mean? they don't mean that these two men are real terrorists. it is up to a court of law to decide that.
