I'm saying that if the term is used widely, especially by the Whitehouse it will mark a turning point in what the event will be used to potentially push through. Whether that be new legislation to catch terrorists, increased security, etc. I'm not saying it's good or bad, but it's telling if the term starts to be used by the Whitehouse itself. So far Obama has been very cautious about calling any attack outright terrorism, Benghazi, the Fort Hood shooting, the underwear bomber, etc. The Fort Hood shooting lead to the NDAA provision that allowed for the assassination of Anwar al Alawki (or any american citizen who promotes terrorism), the underwear bomber lead to 3d body scanners and TSA pat-downs. I'm just interested to see how this all plays out.

The whole "terrorist/terrorism" thing seems very tautalogical because it all depends on how you define the words and the words are only meaningful insofar as they describe things. So it doesn't really matter if you define the person(s) responsible as terrorist(s) as you can just look directly at what they did and grasp the full meaning.

Are you talking about the media using those terms to push buttons?

edit: fuck it, not gonna get political right now

haha, you edited that super quick. These are the time when i go full political, but i'm not going to try and take away focus from the horribleness of the event.

edit: Obama did not use the term 'terrorism' , everybody so far is carefully wording statements on how to characterize it.

edit: former DOJ head says this is 'very similar' to the NYC bombing plot that was apparently thwarted 2 years ago. Fox news already using phrases like 'the terrorists put ball bearings' 'the terrorists do this to strike fear in us'. Good job Fox!

edit3: Fox news "the signature threat of an IED is ball bearings, if ball bearings were used thats illustrative to trace back to the motivation" <--- really? fox news already reaching super hard

Yeah, this is luls for me because I was making ball bearing explosives with fireworks and shotgun shells before we even invaded Iraq.

yes, but the biggest button of all would be if the Whitehouse acknowledged 'this is a terrorist attack'. It's the red meat that a lot of people want to hear during times like this

edit: Fox news just played the raw footage of the explosion for the 8th time in under 30 minutes

there is very little information about this supposed JFK library bombing, anybody got specifics? was it bombed at the same time? The news is saying that this was very well coordinated with multiple explosions, I'm assuming they mean the JFK library bombing happened around or exactly the same time as the finish line bombing

Yeah they disarmed three other bombs, the JFK seems to be a fire with is unrelated... bit mental

I hope you guys realize that 3849 was not being a troll, the dude clearly has a mental disorder. I feel like he might have schizoid personality disorder. Like, have you talked to him in chat? I'm not sure that he feels emotions much at all, and I'm positive he doesn't understand how others feel or why it's important to be careful not to hurt others; he has said he wouldn't care if his friends committed suicide.

At any rate, the news is ridiculous. I can't say I'm any better than anyone else; I looked at the pictures. But still, it's like gore-porn right now. I can't help but laugh though at that m&m and at the fact that they tagged one of the pictures with #scary.

anybody know the significance of all the international flags flying near the finish line? Was that some kind of federal building or UN satellite or something? It seems pretty blatantly symbolic

re: thanks rixx for that info

Nah, he is just a kid that needs to grow up.

seems too odd to be unrelated though, but Im pretty paranoid about the government since watching X file for a week solid. (I'm hitting five hours a day...)

EDIT: I just read that the police are trying to stop people from getting near the buildings close by and also trying to stop people using mobiles as they may set off any bombs that have not yet been found (jeeeeezzzzzzz thats scary)

I have said/thought stuff like 3849 did before, but only because I was young and didn't understand. So maybe it's just a matter of not yet having gotten a good enough sense of the small but significant ways that all people are connected and interdependent.

Plus, it is very psychologically difficult to deal with the pain of that amount of compassion. Which is why some of you made jokes before p. 3 of the thread. In that respect, I think 3849's comment only differs by degree.

(To be clear: I totally disagree with 3849's view, but trying to bring mutual understanding ... probably trying in vain but)

hehe i was just reading an article yesterday about who runs usa homeland security department. it's not run by people who give a damn about usa people. israel has no problem murdering usa citizens. which is sad. very sad. israeli please stop this. we can still be friends but you mustnt do these terrorist attacks any longer.

misrepresentation is a powerful force. almost everything is being misrepresented in todays modern world. misrepresented for money, misrepresented for power or because of humanities genuine naivety. lies about lies are being traded for lies, buttons are being pressed and screens are blinking. we are driving right past each other without stopping. our health is being compromised in many ambiguous ways and it is making us, moody, impatient, angry, tense, introverted etc etc.

there was a time when humanity was more aware of the truth, a simpler time when we could only look each other in the eye. when we truly wanted and needed each others help for our every day survival.

that time, it would seem, may be gone forever in certain parts of the world and continues to disappear at a furious rate.

we need to need each other again if we want to survive

You say that like you think this is some kind of false flag, or are you just meaning the way these things are always handled?

you're getting it all wrong, we need the americans to stay healthy and productive to fund our military, killing them doesn't make sense.

also it's israeli independence day today, lol.

Fox News: "the whitehouse acknowledges now that this is terrorism, but they are being very careful about using the term"
"we asked why Obama didn't use the term in his speech and our feeling is that they are being tight lipped and very careful because of the Benghazi fall out"
"its very important for the president himself to not get ahead of the investigation and scare the public more than they've already been scared"
"I'ts unclear at this moment if it was a foreign source of terror or home grown"

The New York Post broke the news that Boston investigators have a 20-year old Saudi Arabian person of interest in the two Boston Marathon bombings in custody. He is being held under guard at an undisclosed hospital location with severe burns, indicating that he was injured during the blast before he being apprehended.

CBS News has also reported that the Boston police have surveillance video of an individual bringing multiple backpacks to the blast site near the finish line on Boylston St.

hi

omg this is the greatest day of my life.

TBH, the news is pumping out so much stuff that they dont have 'quality control' at this point example being:

CBS Boston reporter tweeted this-Jack Williams: Person being questioned who is possibly related to bombings. (Via @CBSNews)

15mins ago

a minute later...

Jack Williams: @BostonFire - @JFKLibrary incident does not appear connected to race explosions.

then this: : Saudi national seen acting suspiciously & running. Chased tackled by civilians and being questioned by FBI (via @CBSNews)

so they cant give the Saudi national's name but can give the other guy's ID up? so dumb they need to act more professionally.

If you are gonna watch TV news, the most reliable source on islamofascism is Fox News (im not kidding). Obama won't even call this terrorism, he and the multi-cultural liberal media are too scared of offending Islam. So instead we see the dancing.

" Last law bearing means that any reformer or Prophet will be a subordinate of the Holy Prophet (saw) and no new Messenger and Prophet with a new religion, book or decree will come after him. Everything from him will be under the banner of Islam only."
